I'm not weak. Just because someone doesn't love me doesn't mean the end of the world. My people need me. I was seated at the desk again, inputting different numbers at the password but none seemed to work. Then my phone rang and I answered it. It was a video call... From Ian.
“Do you think I'm stupid!” He thundered. “Where's Devin?” He asked.
“Devin? I don't know what you're talking about,” I lied.
“Oh really? I knew the moment the tracker went off, Hayden already found out the truth. Are you seriously gonna risk the lives of those people all for him?” He asked.
“No Ian, wait.”
“Wait?” He laughed. “I have been waiting for weeks now. I'm not this patient. Let me see who I should kill first. Oh wait, your mum!”
“Ian! Please no!” I cried.
He swiped the video with that of a sniper pointed at my mum. She was seated on her rocking chair, reading a novel by the window. She looked pale.
“Mum...” I whispered and touched the screen before he swiped it back to his face.
“All of my men are surrounding your house so if she moves, she can still be killed at anywhere. How about I make that call now,” He said.
“No! Please! I beg of you!” I folded my hands. “She's the only family I have left. Please don't.”
“If you knew that then why haven't you handed the code over to me yet,” he said.
“The code... Yes, the code,” I scrambled on a piece of paper and pen and wrote a fake code. “Look here, the code is with me, just don't hurt anyone.”
“Don't waste my time and tell me already!”
“23. 4537 8905. 66,” I said.
“And what are those?”
“Coordinates. That will lead you straight to your queen,” I said.
“Then why are you in Secundarabag?”
“To...to see a friend who helped me in cracking the code,” I lied.
“Are you talking of that girl that you went shopping with in that mall that bombed?” He asked again.
“Yes, how did you know?”
“I have informants all around. And by the way, the bombing of that store was just tip of the iceberg to what I'll do next to one of your people if you dare lie to me,” He threatened.
“You bombed the store?” I gasped.
He laughed. “I thought you wouldn't understand. And I also sent you that blank letter through the police,” He said.
Has he maybe found out about the safe and why I was really here?
“Why... Why?” I asked.
“To let you know someone was watching you but you still didn't get it. Anyway, I have something important to do like finding my queen,” He said.
“Can I please see Amelia again?” I asked.
“sure,” He smiled and signaled to some of his men. They left and came back with Amelia. She was dressed properly and she had no injury on her. She was perfectly fine.
“Amelia!” I shouted.
“Camy!” She shouted back and ran to Ian.
“How are you my dear?” I asked.
