We walked into the parlour with trays in hand and placed them on the center table. Hayden seemed scared and when I looked at him questioningly, he looked at Uncle. I shouldn't have left him here alone.

“I'm a hundred percent sure none of this was cooked by Xena,” Uncle Craig said.

“Dad?” Xena looked displeased. “You know me so well,” She said and we all couldn't help but laugh. We took our seats and I sat next to Hayden again.

“Shall we?” Aunt Lolita asked, talking about the food.

“Way ahead of you!” We looked at Xena and she already had her mouth stuffed with pancakes. We chuckled and reached out for our choice of food. I picked bacon and waffles and so did Hayden.

“So, I was just asking Hayden the work he does and he said he took over his dad's business. Isn't that a proud thing to do?” Uncle asked.

I looked at Hayden and he was fully concentrated on his plate of bacon and waffles without even bothering to touch them.

“Uncle, I don't mean to sound rude but I honestly don't see anything wrong with that,” I said.

“Who is gonna marry someone that relies on his father's wealth?” Uncle asked harshly.

“No uncle. I don't see anything bad in that,” I said.

“I for one won't let any of my daughters marry that type of man. And your father would be disappointed if I accepted him. Your father believed in someone not relying on anyone,” He said.

“But Ravi doesn't rely on anyone,” Xena said. We looked at her. Looks like she's ready to tell her dad of her secret relationship with the Indian guy.

“Excuse me? Ravi?” Uncle asked.

“Yes dad. Ravi. The same guy you met at the temple the other day and went against our relationship,” She said.

“Ravi is Indian,” Uncle said.

“And I love him,” Xena retorted.

“You...” Uncle glared at her unbelievably. I looked at aunt Lolita and she wasn't at peace with what was going on.

“Dad, I love Ravi and it isn't right to discriminate. We are all human beings right?” She said.

“My only child and daughter will not marry an Indian guy,” he said and looked at aunt. “Talk some sense into her,” he walked away.

Xena broke down and ran away. “Xena wait!” I called. I was about to run after her when I noticed aunt struggling to breathe. “Aunt,” Hayden and I rushed to her. “Aunt calm down okay?”

“Go and talk to Xena. I'll handle your aunt,” Hayden said. I looked at him and he gave me a reassuring look before I dashed out.

I found Xena sitting at the rooftop. I went to her. “Xena...” She hugged me immediately and started crying.

“I can't believe my own dad will go against the man I love. What's his problem with Ravi?!”

“Listen, I'm sure uncle is just looking out for you so you won't fall into the wrong hands.”

“Ravi isn't a wrong person. I've known him for years now and I know he loves me too.”

“Then if that's the case, you and Ravi have to find a way to convince your dad.”

“But how?”

“Don't worry. Hayden and I will think of something,” I assured her.

“Thanks,” She said and hugged me. I hugged her too.
