I laughed. "You can't be serious. Not even once?" I asked.

"Yeah. Is it that bad?" He asked.

"You're 24 and you've never been on a date? The fuck?"

"I've been on dates. With female criminals or crime partners and sorts," He shrugged.

"No dummy! Like a real date with someone you fell for," I said.

"Oh! Well no. But I've been on enough dates to know how to set up a dinner date for a pretence girlfriend," He said.

I smiled. "You know what? Let's do something else. How about we watch a movie outside at the pool area?"

"Uhm... Anything you want."

"Just to make you have a feel of another date that isn't a dinner date. I can set up."

"No. I'll do it. You just stay here till I tell you to come out," He said and I nodded and he walked out.

A few minutes later, he was guiding me outside because my eyes had been blindfolded.

"We're here," He said, stopping me. He untied the blindfold and I blinked to adjust to the lights.

A sigh escaped my mouth as I looked around the pool. He had a bed on the floor with a white bedspread and lots of chocolate in front of it. A laptop was laying just a feet away from the bed. And he used tiny lights to decorate the surroundings. It was really beautiful. But mostly because, he decorated it himself.

"For a guy whose only dates are fake dinner dates, this is wow!" I said truthfully.

"Thanks. I'm good in everything I do."

I rolled my eyes. "Can't you just take a compliment, say thanks and not praise yourself again?"

"No, I can't. Because there's a particular joy I feel when I praise myself."

"You're just being stupid."

"Let me show you being stupid," He scooped me off the floor and walked towards the pool.

"Hayden! Stop! Let me down! Hayden!" I shouted hitting him continuously. He just kept laughing. When he got to the pool and started releasing me into the water, I held his shirt, closed my eyes and turned to his chest.

When he eventually dropped me, it was a gentle release on a foamy and soft surface. I opened my eyes and I was on the bed.

"How are you so scared of a pool?" He asked.

"I can't swim."

"I know that. You were drowning today. What I meant was, you go through hell to solve a case and you can't even swim."

"Big deal Hayden. Big deal."

He chuckled. "Okay. I won't talk about it anymore. What film do you wanna watch?"

"An horror movie," I suggested.

"Horror? Are you sure?"

"Just because I can't swim doesn't mean I'm such a baby. They're my favorite," I said.

"You never cease to surprise me Camilla Veda." He went to play a movie on the laptop.

"Thanks for the chocolates," I said. My mouth was already full even before the movie started and he shook his head when he looked at me.
.
.
I dropped my phone in my pocket and tightened the belt of my cream jacket as I stepped out of the car. I was happy Hayden and Ashton were already in Singapore and I was in front of my uncle's house.

When I stepped in, I looked around at all the decorations and the people walking about carrying one thing or the other.

"Camilla!" I heard Xena's shrill voice and looked in the direction it came from. She was running down the stairs with a smile and I smiled too and went to meet her half way and hugged her.

"Wow! You guys have done a great job," I said, looking around.

"I know right. Mum and dad are really getting everything together. Tomorrow is the day after all," She said.

I saw how ecstatic she was and I couldn't just bring myself to take her smile from her. It was such a pity she fell for the wrong person.

"Where's Uncle and Aunt?" I asked.

"Dad should be out. Mum is somewhere around. But first, come see my wedding gown," She said and pulled me upstairs before I could protest.

She took the long white dress from her wardrobe and laid it on the bed. I knew it would be very gorgeous on her.

"It's nice and I know it'd be beautiful on you," I said.

"Ravi chose it for me," She said. I must admit, he has great taste.

"I really want to see aunt and uncle or anyone of them. I don't want to look rude," I said.

"Okay then. Go look around. I'll be right there," She said, putting the dress back into her wardrobe.

I nodded and left the room. On my way, Ravi crossed my path. He shamelessly placed his hands on my shoulders and I shrugged them off.

"Now that you know who I am and what my motives are, what are you going to do?" He asked. I was shocked he knew English.

"You know English?" I asked. Of course he does.

"Didn't I just speak it or are you just dumb?"

Regaining my composure after the insult, I stared daggers at him. "Look, you and your boss have a problem with me, keep Xena out of this," I warned.

"Oh no! I have no problem with you or Xena. I'm just doing as I was instructed. Boss has always been a step ahead of you. He wanted you to see them again, that's why he sent you that blank message. He knows about your father's safe as well. He knows everything there is too know about you and there's no escape route," He said.

"Well, he doesn't know my family is my biggest strength."

"And your greatest weakness too. He decided to spare them even though you disobeyed him and went to the FBI. But if you try to ruin anymore of his plans, he won't spare you."

"I don't know about Ian but you should be scared. What if you end up dead?"

"None of us fear death. And anyway, killing me will just aggravate your problem. Just think. Your mum could easily get killed or even Amelia."

"Ravi..."

"Safe your anger for any day, Miss Veda. Just enjoy this wedding peacefully," He said and started walking away.

"I won't let this wedding take place and that's my promise to you," I said.

His mocking laughter filled the air followed by his retreating footsteps. I punched the air in anger.

Why did I get involved in this case in the first place? My entire family was getting endangered and there was nothing I could do to safe them.
