“Come on Marian! Let's go! You'll be late for your appointment.” I shouted, taking a look at my watch.

“I'm here.” She walked in, clothed in a navy blue shirt and jeans.

“Alright. Let's go now.” I smiled and we both walked out of the house.

We boarded an autorickshaw that drove us to the large hospital. I hesitated a bit to get in because I hated hospitals. The smell of drugs and those pointy injections; they make me sick. But I had to go in for Marian.

We walked in and I felt the urge to vomit. We walked to the receptionist and a lady attended to us.

“I'm here to see Doctor Meera Sharma.” Marian said.

“Do you have an appointment?” The lady asked.

“Yeah. 9:30 a.m.” Marian replied.

“Okay.” The lady went through a book and nodded. “You can go in. His office is...”

“I know his office.” Marian cut in. The lady nodded again and Marian and I walked to Mr Meera's office.

She knocked on the door and a masculine voice ordered us in.

“Mrs Lopez!” The doctor called with a smile stretched across his face. He stood up and hugged her. “How have you been?” He asked her.

“Good and you?” Marian replied.

“Oh I've been fine. It feels good to see you again. And who's she?” He asked, just noticing me.

“She's Selena, a friend.” Marian said.

“Oh. Good to meet you.” He said and shook my hand.

“And you too.” I replied with a smile.

“Alright then. Let's get to work. Have your seats please.” He said and we all sat down. “Tell me, have you been taking your drugs as I prescribed?”

“Well, yes doctor. I have.” Marian replied.

“Alright then. Let's go for the surgery.” He said.

We stood up and existed the office. They walked into the operating theatre and I waited outside as I was told. Three nurses rushed into the theatre as well and I sat there, praying the operation was successful.

A few minutes later, two tall brunettes wearing blue gowns rushed to me. They both looked scared.

“Hey, is this the operating theatre?” One asked.

“Ugh... Yeah.” I replied.

They gasped and one sat down beside me. The other started patting her as tears spilled from their eyes.

“What if she doesn't survive? I won't be able to forgive myself, Matilda.” The one beside me said.

“Neither would I, Ariana.” The other one replied. “We both thought she was lying to us when she told us about the cancer. We severed all ties with her and now...”

I looked at the both of them in confusion. Who were they talking about and who did they think was in there?

The doctor walked out of the theater and we all rushed to him.

“Doctor, how's she?” I asked just at the same time they asked, “Doctor, how's our mother?”

“Your mother?” The doctor and I asked in shock.

“Yes. The woman in there is our mother.” Matilda replied. I looked at the doctor.

“I'm so sorry misses, but the woman in there has been my patient for a while now and I haven't seen any of you here with her before.” Meera replied and faced me. “Miss Selena, her condition is quite critical. But we are trying our best. Excuse me now.” He says and walked away.

“But...” Ariana looked at Matilda and they both faced me.

Wait, could they be Marian's daughters?

“Look here madam, we are sure the woman in there is our mother. She has breast cancer and this is the middle stage.” Matilda said to me.

“You're Marian's daughters?” I asked.

They looked at each other and back at me and nodded. “Yes. Yes. We are her daughters.”

“Really? And you guys think you're qualified to be called her daughters. Your mother has been battling with this alignment all these months and you never thought you should check on her.”

They looked away.

“Whatever could be the thing she did to you guys, she's still your mother and you should forgive her.”

“You don't know what happened madam so stay out of this. At least, we are here to check on her now.” Ariana snapped.

“If I hadn't called you last night would you have come?!” I asked angrily. “And what did she do? You accused her of killing her own husband. The same man the fathered you two. Why would anyone want to kill the person they love?”

“How did you even meet our mother and how did you find out all of these?” Matilda asked.

“That doesn't matter. What matters is that there's a woman in there who thinks there's no need fighting for her life anymore since her two daughters are accusing her of murder. That's so inhuman of you two.”

“We know now that we were wrong and all we want to do is fix things with her. We both deprived ourselves of our mother's love all these years and it's all our fault. We want to make amends.” Ariana said.

“Yeah.” Matilda agreed.

“Then pray your mother makes it. I just hope she does. Right now, I need to be somewhere. Okay?”

“Okay.” They nodded.

I walked out of the hospital and entered a rickshaw back to the house. I couldn't stay here. I had to continue on my mission. My work here is done anyway.

I picked the key from under the carpet and opened the door. My loads have been packed anyway. Taking my luggage, I dropped a note telling them that I had to leave for urgent work and left the city.

I was going to Secunderabad, Telangana. I had to end all this game once and for all. I had to save my family and friends. I had to stop Duta. I had to stop Ian and if I have to do it alone, then I would. Nothing will happen to any of them. Nothing must happen to them.

I'm coming to save you, guys.
