It's been a day since I got here and Marian and I have bonded quite well. Since her appointment was tomorrow, I decided to stay with her till then.

We were talking a stroll around the city of Delhi. It was a nice place and we watched the kids play about, the women walk about in sari going about their daily businesses and the men too, some dressed in their traditional wear with a turban on their heads and some wearing just shirt and trousers.

“Let's go to that restaurant. They serve really delicious food. The best I've ever tasted since all my times here in India.” She said.

“Really? Let's go then.” I agreed.

We both walked into the restaurant and I must say, it's quite classy. A waitress walked to us.

“Welcome to White Chillies restaurant. Please come with me.” The tall brunette with glasses said. We followed her to a table. “Do have your seat and check the menu for what you want to order.” She said and walked away.

We picked up our menu and I was confused. Which one do I order? I've never been here before talk less taste their food.

“Don't worry. I'll order for you.” Marian said as if she read my mind. I smiled and dropped the menu. She waved at the lady and she came to us. “Give us two plates each of Alu Gobi, Butter Chicken, Roghan Josh, Tandoori chicken, Malai Kofta, Naan and beef Vindaloo. And oh! Bring some samosas as well.” She said. The lady took note and left.

“Isn't that too much? Ten dishes each? I'm not even sure I'd like them.”

“You will. When I first came here, I was also like you. Too confused as to what to order and even when my friend ordered for me, I wasn't sure I'd like it but I did. Those dishes I ordered are the best! You'd love them.”

“Uhm...alright then. I just don't feel good about all this.”

“Is it the part where I have to pay? It's no big deal dear. I would.”

The waiter came with a guy, pushing a trolley filled with different plates of food to us.

“All your twenty dishes ma'am.” She said.

“Thank you.” Marian replied. “We'll have the Alu Gobi first.”

The waitress nodded and looked at the guy. He placed two plates of what I suppose should be the Alu Gobi on the table.

“You guys may go now.” Marian said. They bowed and walked away. “Come on, taste it.” She urged me and ate a spoonful.

I guess I'll eat it.

I dipped my spoon into the dish and prayed silently that I survived the taste. I just hope it isn't horrible. Marian seemed to be really enjoying hers. I eat it and was shocked at how pleasant and delicious it tasted.

“Yummy.” I smiled.

“I told you didn't I?” She said smilingly.

“It's really delicious. Tastes like potatoes, cauliflower and turmeric. Nice combo though.”

“If you like that, then taste the Roghan Josh. Lamb chunks, yogurt, garlic, ginger, shallots and some other spices.” She said picking up another dish from the trolley and placing it on the table. I returned the already empty dish that once contained Alu Gobi to it.

“This is even better! These people are excellent cooks.” I said.

“Yeah.”

“And what's that?” I pointed at a plate of flat bread.

“This?” She asked, picking the plate up. I nodded. “It's called Naan. Eat it with the beef vindaloo. You'll love it.” She said.

“Oh! I'm loving all these already.” I said and she chuckled. We took a piece each and put the small plate containing the beef vindaloo on the table.

“You eat this with your hands not cutlery.” She explained and used her hands to cut out of the Naan. She dipped the piece in the plate of vindaloo and eat it. I did as she illustrated.

“It's good too.” I said taking another bite.

“Naan is always added in most of their dishes.” She said.

“I see. Let me taste it with the Roghan Josh then.” I said. She nodded. I took another piece and dipped it in the plate of Roghan Josh and threw it in my mouth. I immediately fell in love with all Indian dishes that moment.

We also tasted the tandoori chicken and butter chicken and they tasted really great. She showed me the second to the last dish and it was the Malai Kofta.

I took a spoon and it melted in my mouth. It was creamy. She told me it was a total vegetarian dish made with tomatoes and cashew nuts.

We left with the samosas kept in a plastic bag after she paid for everything.

We took a long walk around the area, talking about the places of interest and so on. We even visited their temple and I bought a red sari on our way back.

Trekking back home with her made me remember Hayden. I was in love with him but I didn't tell him. And now, I felt hatred towards him because he lied to him but that still doesn't mean I don't care about him or I don't wanna call him and ask how he's doing. It hurts to be far away from the one you love...or loved.

I wiped a tear and stepped into the house. Sitting on the couch, I took off my jacket and Marian sat on the one facing me.

“Are you okay?” She asked me. I nodded. “I believe that from the friendship we've developed these last two days, we can tell each other anything. Don't lie to me dear. I can see through your pain.” She came to sit beside me. “Come on.”

Another tear dropped from eyes. “It... It's about a guy I met before coming here. We got along real good and might have done some pretty crazy stuffs together...no 18+ stuff though. But, I... I think I fell in love with him.” I started explaining.

“You did.” She said. I looked at her and she nodded. “So what's the problem?”

“I can't tell him. I fear he might just turn me down.”

“It's okay to be scared of being rejected but don't let your fear ruin things for you.”

“No. It isn't about the fear anymore. He lied to me about his parents and I wonder why. That was why I ran here to India.” I concluded.

“But there's always a reason for everything. Did you ask him what his reason was?”

“He doesn't even know I already discovered his lie or where I am at the moment.”

“You're hurt because he lied but that didn't stop you from loving him. Don't think you hate him now. You should call him to tell him that you're here when you think it's time.” She advised.

“Uhm...”

“Alright. Goodnight.” She kissed my forehead and stood up.

“Marian?” I called. She looked back. “Can I have your phone please?” I asked.

“Why?”

“Nothing much.”

“Uhm...okay.” She gave me her phone. “When you're done with it, bring it to my room please.” She said and walked away.

It was funny how she trusted me so much already. I collected her daughters' numbers from the phone. It was easy to find since they were saved with my beloved daughters. I later went to her room to drop the phone but she was already asleep. I placed it on the nightstand and walked out to the room she gave me.

I'll surprise you tomorrow, Marian.
