Two feet, standing at the edge of the crossroads.
Two hands, intertwined together, but so distantly close.
Two hearts, beating in tangled veins of lies.
Two of us, waiting.
I know what you're thinking, you know what I'm thinking.
Two lips, afraid to say the words that would set us free from the chains of the other.
When did this love...start to change so much?
Who was the one that said,
That they'd love me forever?
Sweet honey turns to saccharine medicine,
Soft flowers turn to wilted skeletons,
Cold smoke entwining our fingers,
Hate spitting out of each other's mouths
Darkness falling onto us, leaving us trapped, blind
We clutch at what we have left, knowing we are hanging by a thread
Time is seeping away, is this our cue to leave?
Still, our hands match
Still, our lips touch
Still, our eyes meet
Still, with hearts beating
Still, we're sleeping like lovers
Two hands, knowing they are two unfit jigsaw pieces, forcing their way together
Two hands, longing for each other's warmth
Spiralling down into beautiful denial,
Afraid to let go of love's remnants
I'll wrap up my bones
And leave them at this crossroad
Somewhere along the line, our dream shattered
Somewhere along the line, our hearts faded
Somewhere long the line, love didn't heal, and it started to hurt
The day bleeds into nightfall, we are at the end of our line
Your hand, is no longer mine to hold.
You and I, still running, running, running
Chasing the reasons why we went wrong
I think, it's time to leave this town
We said our goodbyes, so why?
Still, we're missing the heat of someone else.
We are in love with the idea of us,
Still.
Author's Note
The very og version of this was inspired by a chinese song "记得" which means remember, and it wasn't turning out very nicely so i completely deleted and rewrote it, still keeping the idea but this time mixed with "Still" by Daughter. I've had this in my drafts since forever lol like maybe a few months? I have a lot of unpublished or incomplete pieces I'm too lazy to edit oops:"
