Once there was a girl
Half-full, half-empty
See it how you wantOnce there was a girl
And she craved freedom
Like the little canary in a cageOnce there was a girl
Who found the sugar to her salt
And it made her feel completeThe sugar was sweet
The jar in her heart
Was half empty, but now it was fullBut the sugar had already found
The salt to her sugar
She didn't want to stay
She didn't want to accompany
The little canary in the cage anymoreThe little canary flew away
The little canary broke free
The little canary wanted to save
The girl who unlocked her cageEven if she was the devil
Even if she was wrong
Even if the whole world turned against herOnce there was a girl,
Who wanted to be by the side
Of the person she loved mostThe canary sang, it sang of hope
And friendship and light
Of love and warmth
It sang to the soul that set it free
It sang from the bottom of its heartThe voice of the little canary
Soared through the sky
It wanted her to know
It wanted to save her
From the breaking jar in her heartOnce there was a girl,
Who wanted to stay by the side
Of the person she loved most
She wanted to sing to her
Till the end of timeBut alas, with the stab of a knife
The little canary's voice
Caught in its throat
With its last dying song
It tried to save the soul
Which gave her wingsBut it was too late, and the little canary
Could sing no moreOnce there was a girl,
Who found the salt to her sugar
She didn't need anything else
But the taste of sweet and salty
On her tongueShe didn't need, the little canary that sang to her every day.
"You killed that little bird, didn't you?"
Author's Note
Inspired by Happy Sugar Life! (Really recommend this show it's kind of disturbing and the complete opposite of what the name suggests but it's really well executed and I loved it.)
