Episode 14: P i n k F u r y
Once his orange flames locked onto me I felt all the emotions come rushing back into me.
Fear and guilt—welcome back my old friends.
Jungkook finally stopped thudding against the invisible barrier and took two steps back, still breathing heavily in the thick of his rage.
"Jungkook..." Jin mumbled his name with surprise, trying to mediate what was going on.
I had to escape now. My head turned over to the bar table where Jimin and Sera were supposed to be hiding. But How? How was I going to escape with them too?
Leyla was lurking a few feet back from the center of the havoc that had just unfolded, but her eyes were fixed on me, trying to signal something. I shook my head in the slightest, trying to communicate that I had no idea what she was trying to tell me.
The panic rose up in my chest as soon as V finally let go of that demon girl who finally managed to stop squirming around.
He was so going to kill me. I felt his anger radiating all types of signals across to me.
But before V could turn around to face me, a flash of pink and black tackled him back down to the floor.
"How could you!"
"Deealah. Get off of me." V shut his eyes, an inch away from losing his temper. "I don't have time for you," he argued. "Get off, now!"
"Deelah, get off?" She mimicked him with a resentful tone, grinding her teeth together as tears ran down her face. "I haven't seen you in 666 years and that's the first thing you tell me? To get off!" Was she actually crying now? "How good is she anyway, huh? What good is that witch How could you do this to me! How?!"
What kind of melodrama was unfolding out here?
Her head snapped up at me and her eyes turned black, "That's it. I'm going to kill her!"
I didn't even have time to react before Leyla came in front of me and quickly placed a barrier up. Her sword crashed against it, flaring out a feisty pink and black flame. Even from a safe distance it still looked deadly. "You crazy little wench! What do you think you're doing here?!" Leyla hissed at her.
Deealah scoffed with disbelief, "what in the world has Savannah turned into? A freaking circus for freaks? I assume to have a family reunion here now, auntie Leyla?"
"GET LOST!" Leyla never sounded angrier as she chanted a spell that blew green flames out of her mouth. However, Deealah dodged her attack as if she was simply hopping over a crushed can on a street.
My chest tightened, finally realizing that I was holding in my breath the whole time. "Leyla, I have to get out of here...but...I'm not alone," I found myself whispering down to her.
"Not alone?" She glanced back at me with confusion. "All you just need to do is take care of yourself now. Forget about whoever is with you."
"I can't do that Leyla." I firmly told her. "It's all of us or nothing."
"Acting stubborn again. Great, well there goes my grand plan." She cussed, turning back to V and Deealah.
"Get out of my way Deealah!" V angrily shot a beam of flames, hurling it over at Leyla. Oh, crap. Her thin barrier wouldn't survive that, definitely not after Deealah's previous attack.
"Move over!" I pushed her back and held my hands out. As soon as the barrier began to crack, I focused on the flame, trying to absorb the energy in the center of my palm. It was as if the more I did that, the stronger the flame grew in resistance. But, my powers were also amplified, possibly even beyond my control. If I was able to absorb V's flames before, then now I should do it with ease now.
