Episode 47: O r i g i n s ( i )
Jin tightly held Sera to his side, eyeing every single vampire in the room before he attempted to think of a strategy at how he'd handle this.
Normally, vampires possessed nowhere near the abilities of what a demon had--especially if the demon was of royal blood like Jin. However, he wasn't dealing with normal vampires. He was dealing with the originals of the bloodline. The line that started all because of his own brothers' mistake.
"V's brother? There's no way!" Mrs. Crourem gasped with disbelief.
"I don't care who's bloody brother he is." Victoria stepped up. "He just tried to kill Caleb! I will not stand for it."
"Stay back, Victoria." Damien's unreadable eyes lit up, holding his hand out to her. Victoria's brows furrowed together with even more anger.
"Damien. You've honestly been asking for too much." She warned. "This is the murderer of my father, Mr. Kich, that we're talking about! Does his death no longer deserve the justice it was stripped of?!"
"Victoria, you do not know what you're talking about right now." Mr. Crourem cautiously spoke. "If this man is truly who he says he is, then we cannot initiate a fight! We could never!"
"Mother?!" Victoria turned to Mrs. Kich who sat quiet, looking back at Jin with awe.
"We wouldn't have expected to see one of Satan's sons again after what happened almost six hundred years ago." Mr. Vorshwick relaxed his fangs and looked at Jin with a gaze of melancholy and sadness.
Jin toned his flames down, realizing that they must have not had such a bad experience with V as he had thought. However, because Sera was still present, he couldn't completely let his guard down. "I mean no harm," he repeated calmly this time, placing his hands up. "I don't understand what Sera has to do with all of this, but she is under my care for the time being. I won't even ask who hurt her because I may break my peaceful promise, but I will just ask for permission to exit the estate. And if Sera's existence bothers you all so much, then I will make sure she will never cross another vampire ever again."
His plea was reasonable, but not enough for them. While they didn't have an issue with him, they still had a deep grudge against Demon Slayers.
"With all due respect, I have already mentioned that I cannot allow her to leave until I get what I want," Damien spoke up, his eyes taking a less hostile vibe.
"Well, there's absolutely no way I will leave Sera to the very people who want her dead." Jin adamantly refused.
"While I respect your brother for what he has done for us and myself, I still cannot agree to your request right now. No matter what," Damien clenched his fists, "we will seek out revenge against those who hurt the family. It is the vow we've taken and none of us will stand for anyone who dares to diminish it. No matter who they may be."
Truthfully, Jin had actually come here alone--which was a risk he knew he'd have to take. While Aiko was knocked out and without letting his brothers know, he quickly left. He wasn't planning on fighting them all, of course. Jin knew his limits well. Although his powers were considerably strong, they weren't meant to be used in an all on one fight. He was willing, however, to wager the risk for a possibility of a rational discussion about Sera's issue. Since he was often good with words.
"Damien," Natella placed a hand on his shoulder. He glared back at her with a warning. She wasn't just alone with him anymore. Anything she said the rest would also hear. However, she was determined to now finally take the step she had been so hesitant to take. All this time, her mind contemplated back and forth on whether what they were doing with Sera was truly the right thing. On whether they were even following their vows or the prophecy at this point. "Perhaps we should hear him out?"
