Episode 59: W i s k a
Hanul cradled Aiko tightly in my arms as her tears silently fell down her face. V held tightly to her hand while he sat on the edge of the bed and the rest were gathered around, staring at the unconscious boy with confusion.
"We just can't get a break..." She mumbled, sniffing back her tears while pressing her head against her son's.
"What happened?" Jin turned to Sera standing at a far corner while she stared back at Aiko with a lost gaze. She continued to peel at the skin around her thumb while she shook her head.
"I don't know. I don't know." She repeated. "I left and I just heard that."
"What did you say to him?" V snapped his head back at her and glared. "You must have said something!"
"I didn't do anything!" She broke down into a fit of tears, covering her ears. Quickly, Jin held Sera into a tight hug, glaring at V. "I didn't do anything to him! Jin, I swear. I didn't do anyth--"
"I know. It's okay." He whispered to her, smoothing down her hair as she tightly hugged him back, staring at Aiko's sleeping face with guilt.
Pride silently observed the boy before contacting V's eyes. "Is it just me?" He finally spoke up, capturing everyone's attention. "I might be wrong, but, ever since I've seen it I couldn't quite shake the feeling that something was off about it."
"About what?" Hanul looked at him, confused.
"I'm either a genius or stretching this out too far, but since I've only experienced that second aura from Ego once, I'm quite certain that Aiko's aura isn't an abnormal flame just because of his mixed background. There's something more to this..." Jungkook caught V's pondering look. "You've known that, right?"
"Something about it bothered me too," V admitted. "But now that you mention Ego, I think I could wrap my mind around where I've seen something like it before. Especially since Jin's mentioned their presence here."
Jin narrowed his eyes before they grew large with realization. "Damien!"
V nodded. "They call it a Wiska. I've seen it when we defeated the leader of the Demon Slayers a couple of centuries back. I wouldn't say it's the same thing, but Aiko's unnatural aura resembles it a lot. And now that you mention Ego's enigmatic powers, it sort of fits into the category."
"If I also remember correctly, then it was part of the prophecy! The two with Wiska had to be kept away from each other." Jin gasped.
"I wouldn't be too excited about that." V grimly spoke up. "Ego, Aiko, and Damien have auras that resemble an unknown entity. The roots of Damien's Wiska were born out of anti-Magik and a single strong purpose--vengeance."
"And Ego was born out of that idiot's identity crisis." Pride narrowed his eyes, catching on to the meaning of all this. "Wiskas are connected to really dark emotions, isn't it? What a bitch."
"So what are you trying to say about Aiko then?" Hanul furrowed her brows and placed a defensive glare on. "He was born with his aura, it wasn't developed like it was with you guys."
"His unnatural birth could be a key factor though," Jin suggested. "He was born out of a contradiction of powers from three main species--angel, demon, and human. No offense Hanul, but his very existence is not really conforming to the balance of nature."
"Well, I do take offense. My son is not evil. And he's not created out of some black Magik." She relentlessly defended.
"He might not feel evil, but you really can't control it when your very nature is. Like you said, he was born with it. There's only so much you can do with nurturing the boy into a positive and innocent kid before it consumes him." Jin pointed at Pride. "Take Jungkook and him as an example of that."
