Episode 66: E s c a p e

Her vision was still groggy, but as she adjusted to the noise in the room she quickly tensed back up again.

"Here, eat." Solmi set down a tray beside her packed with a low-grade hotel meal and went back to sitting on the chair.

"Eat?" Sera scoffed, looking down at her cuffed wrists. "How? Like a dog?" She glared at Solmi who glared back before letting out a sigh.

"The moment you do something funny you'll end up strapped back down before you realize it." She snapped her fingers and chanted a word before the cuffs around her wrists came undone.

Slowly, Sera rotated her hands to relieve the stiffness and looked over at Pride who was sleeping on the bed without care. "Seriously...did he come here to sleep?" She scoffed.

"Eat." Solmi motioned to the food again, gluing her eyes on to the girl. Hesitantly, Sera looked at the appealing food, sensing her stomach growling with a response. To start off, she picked up the cheese bread and took a little bite. "Is it good?" Solmi suddenly asked her, clearing her throat.

Sera glared, angrily chewing. "You think I care about how my food tastes in a situation like this? You freaking kidnapped me and now you have me here as if I'm some sort of prisoner. I'm so going to kill you."

Solmi cracked a smirk, "you haven't stopped saying that phrase ever since."

"Shut up. Don't remind me of such shitty times." Sera's eyes glowered down as she angrily took another bite of bread.

"So, do you really hate me that much?" Solmi crossed her legs and continued to smirk, continuing the unwanted conversation without an ounce of remorse.

"Hate? That's an understatement." Sera scoffed. "You're really acting so bold after what you've done to me? Must be fucking nice to be so heartless."

"You're acting like I nearly murdered you. Stop exagg--"

Sera slammed the bread down to the tray, heated tears struggling to slide back into her eyes. "Murdering me would have been a blessing. Do you really think that you're innocent? What you've done...what you've done left me with a scar I'll never be able to heal from. Besides abandoning me after what happened with the vampires, you...you were always so cold. Leaving me alone for days while you and your mother disappeared, and then you'd return only to beat me around and make sure that I was training my powers properly. And then what? Right when I was just starting to warm up to you, right as I started to want to prove myself and my abilities like a stupid fool begging for your praise...you tell me that you didn't need someone like me around? You send me to live with demons after your mother practically brainwashed me for six years to think that I was inherently supposed to kill them. Not one fucking time did you ever make me feel accepted! You've got the nerve even looking me in the eye after abusing me. Gosh, I was such a stupid kid. I couldn't even tell the difference between kindness and cruelty. You--"

"And you're still a stupid kid." Solmi cut her off, an unblinking cold gaze hardened into her eyes as a shiver ran through the baffled girl. She stood up, stomping her heeled boots over before crouching down and returning a disappointed scowl. "I'd thought you'd abandon that wreckless habit of yours, but it still looks like you still walk around acting like a big shot when you're nothing but a little coward begging for people's approval. Well, you're not good enough to earn that approval yet--especially not from me. So you better fix your attitude and be grateful for what you've got. Someone like you would have died way sooner than you had wished."

Sera's breathing hitched, anger filling her chest as each breathe she took steepened. Her eyes continued to widen with disbelief and her face twisted up with shock at the older woman's harsh behavior. With one last look at the girl's traumatized face, Solmi roughly grabbed her wrists and sealed the cuffs back on.
