Episode 52: P r i d e ' s H e a r t
Fading music blared into his ears. The beating of the club vibrated through his slouched body. Sunken eyes fixated on the opposing wall, for no apparent reason. Even the ice in the cubic glass was well melted, diluting the alcohol inside while his lips stood slightly parted open against its edge.
Pride continued to stare at the wall in a private booth, a listless look on his absent-minded face took over.
"Master," one of the girls resting on him shook his arm, causing the glass to slip from his hand. As it crashed into pieces, the girl gasp and stood up, staring down at the mess. "My apologies, Master! Please forgive me, I-". Jungkook continued to sit still, unfazed. "Hello?" She waved her hand across his face as the other charmed girl sleeping on his chest looked up at her.
"Stop bothering him." She snarled.
"Master's been like this all night! He's always so playful and flirty, but he hasn't spoken a word for over three hours."
Jungkook finally spoke up, but in a small whisper that it was hard for her human ears to catch on to. At the sight of his moving lips, she got excited and sat back down next to him, bringing her ear closer to hear him.
"What is it, master?" She beamed, patiently waiting for him to speak up again.
"Shut. Up."
The other girl held a frightened gasp in, watching the blood drip down his stoic face as the girl's headless body slid down, emptying out all her blood.
Resisting the urge to scream, she covered her mouth, looking back at Pride's empty blue eyes. "Are you going to be annoying too?" He monotonously asked her. She quickly shook her head. A small smirk crawled up his face and he roughly grabbed her head, pressing her against his chest again as they both sat there silently. While he continued to zone out, the girl silently trembled, watching the corpse take up space on the floor.
It was only a few seconds, but it felt like hours, when the man suddenly stood up, knocking the girl off him to the ground. She looked up, shoving her hair off her face, and stared at him with a confused look.
For the first time that night, there was almost something close to life vibrating in his eyes. He tilted his head with uncertainty at the closed door before his body disappeared out of the room.
Jungkook stood on the upper level of the club, glancing down at the large crowd downstairs, dancing their youth away and recklessly getting into fights.
The past few weeks, there seemed to be something that kept following him around like a haunting spirit. It mixed up a feeling of both anxiousness yet curiosity in his chest. It's been bothering him for days, ever since Aiko came to live with them, but he couldn't quite figure out what it was.
It was when his eyes were led to a dark corner near the exit of the club did he spot what had him so restless. As if the whole world had slowed down, the music distorted around him. Jet black hair strands swung into the shadows, disappearing.
With a desperate attempt, Jungkook quickly teleported down, past the mindless crowd, and into the darkness, grabbing the pale hand before it could exit without a second thought.
A startled gasp slipped out of the woman and her body stiffly froze up.
"You're..." Jungkook's eyes widened in disbelief. The silky strands of hair flared into an elegant twist as she quickly turned her head to face him. A similar pair of large eyes looked back at the boy and her cherry red lips trembled with uncertainty.
