Episode 22: A m b u s h

"Did you all know that or something?" Deealah widened her eyes, especially at V. "That she's a demon-slaying bitch?"

Jin pushed himself up from the floor, his clothes scorched with holes from the black flames that attacked him earlier. "Well, not really." He started, being the first one to break through the awkwardness in the air.

Deealah abruptly stopped healing V and was suddenly taken over by shock as she looked back at Solmi's guilty face. "She's working with the very woman that nearly killed me and my brother and you allowed her to stay in your house?!"

"It was complicated, Deealah. Pride, was the one--"

"Have you all lost your minds living on Savannah? V don't just sit there quiet, say something!" She looked over at him. "Do you really not know about the demon slayers? The clan that conspired to eradicate our people? If I have heard about it from father, then you must have too."

"They're all eradicated now. It's no threat." He mumbled back to her, continuing the healing process himself and keeping his eyes locked on Hanul.

Even after all that happened to him, he wasn't in the mindset to care about anything other than her.

Deealah looked down at the girl, crippling in pain silently while she held her stomach. Her anger only continued to rise.

"Well, clearly not! That mark is theirs, I'm sure of it! She and that woman are still alive and they're out for us all!"

"Brother," Jungkook firmly spoke up and glanced at Deealah with annoyance. She was hindering any chance of maintaining whatever peace there was in the midst of all the chaos. "I'm not going to let Solmi get hurt any more than she already has. This was all my fault in the first place, so I'm going to let her go."

"Let her go?!" Deealah practically screeched at him and, again, looked at V for support. "I just told you that her freaking clan almost killed me and my brother! Tell me you don't agree with that foolish brother of yours."

"Stay out of it Deealah! You don't belong here anyway, so what makes you think you can decide this!" Jungkook suddenly snapped, and at that moment Solmi realized how dangerously similar he sounded and looked to Pride.

"As if you belong here?!" She argued back, succeeding by getting under his skin.

"Enough." Solmi decided to speak up before this blew out of proportion. "I won't deny my identity. I am a demon slayer, and the mark engraved on my back is an oath I took--the oath to kill any of you cursed creatures on sight."

"You fucking bitch--" Deealah charged at her, but Jin quickly held her back, allowing Solmi to continue her explanation uninterrupted.

"However, I..." she looked at Jungkook's apologetic face for a brief second before letting out a defeated sigh, "who would have guessed that the lives of you demons were so messed up and complicated. Staying here for the last few days have shown me things that no one else in my clan could've known or experienced. Nothing I could've read from the books. All I've ever known about demons was that they're cruel and bloodthirsty beings that will not hesitate to kill me if I didn't first. Because that's what happened to our bloodline throughout the years. We've been eradicated by you all. Even my...my own father died trying to track one of you down. And because I also thought that Jungkook killed my sister, I was fueled by vengeance. I appeared before Jungkook to pursue my mission as a demon-slayer and continue my family's legacy because this oath runs through my veins. It's alive, stirring inside my blood." She took a pause, allowing for her story to get processed.
