Episode 31: T i d e s  o f  W a r

We all gathered around a small living room inside one of those huts we've seen passing by through the outskirts. Apparently, this is where the two of them lived.

By the two of them, I meant Satan's concubines. One who was currently shooting laser beams at us, sitting in the most refined way on these rather uncomfortable wooden chairs, and the other who was cowering in the back making a warm drink--even though demons don't get hungry she thought it was more hospitable to do so. Guess demons had a similar code of mannerism.

"Speak up boy." Jin and J-hope's mother impatiently glowered her eyes up at V, sitting beside me as we both faced them. "Where are our sons?"

"Hyo."

"Just put it down over there and stop interrupting us Mina!" Hyo angrily directed. Mina, the quieter one set the rusty tray down, pouring a dark yellow liquid into the four chipped teacups. Was she Jungkook and Namjoon's mother then? Quickly, I averted my gaze when she caught me staring at her so blatantly. I glanced back again, seeing her throw me a warm smile that at least made me feel better about the whole situation.

"Mother." V started with a rather polite demeanor I didn't expect.

"I am not your mother. Don't you dare call me that." She grit behind clenched teeth, actually taking offense. V quickly looked up at her furious face.

"You want to know where they are then, bitch?" He tilted his head back and glared at her, sitting back in the chair and crossing his arms tightly across his chest. I nearly spat the camomile tea out of my mouth, as did Mina who quickly set her cup down with shaky hands. Now, that's more like the man I know.

"Ah, still an ill-mannered boy. I see that hasn't changed. But that's all you ever were." Hyo huffed, scowling at him.

"Well I must have learned from the very best." V continued to fire back at her. Honestly, I couldn't contain my smile. I mean, I wasn't going to sit here and let his woman treat the man I loved like he was beneath her. She rubbed off wrong on me from the start!

"And who is she?" Her eyes turned to me and a scoff slipped out of her lips. "You bring a strange woman here but not your own family?"

"She is my family," V emphasized. "As for your kids, the ones I truly thought were family, some are now on the bounty list."

The seat clattered to the floor as she stood up, looking down at him with wide and furious eyes. "What did you just say?"

"Maybe news can't reach you as freely as it could've now that you're in the outskirts. But, see the thing is," V took a pause, contemplating whether it was right to tell her or not.

"V." I cut in quickly, grabbing his attention. "Maybe you shouldn't--"

"And why not?" He narrowed his eyes at me. "She wants to know how her dear sons are doing. I'll tell her."

"But..."

"Long story short, if I ever see J-hope, he's going to die." V dropped the bomb rather impatiently.

"Damn it, V!" I grumbled at him and before I could try to make things less intense than it already was, a pale hand smacked him right across the face. My head snapped at Hyo and my energy flowed out of me uncontrollably. Her eyes were wide with fury and her fangs were barred out in disgust.

"You horrible monster!" She screeched at V, making sure the whole village heard while she was at it. "That is my son you're talking about! My son! How dare you! How dare you! How--"
