Chapter Forty Two

"Like the hatch?"

"Like you holding me back from smacking the crap out of Clarke when we get down there."

"This is Avery. Can anyone hear me? Over."

"This is Avery Armelle. Come in. Over."

"Arkadia. Come in. Over."

"Can anyone hear me! Over."

"This is Avery Armelle. Arkadia, come in. Over."

Static.

All I get back is static.

"Are you sure the radios can reach down there?" Octavia questions me as I sit perched on a stone step. Kane is currently outside trying to buy us time assisting the clans in selecting their hundred. Gaia's convinced her scouts to lock down the temple to keep others out but nobody can be sure for how long. I need to get them to open up the bunker. But no matter how much I try to push the frequency range not a lot can be done except wait for them to hear us.

Tilting my head over to Octavia on the other side of the room with Indra and Gaia I reluctantly shrug "The communications system down there might be strong enough to pick the walkies signal up. Even then there's a slim chance." Hating the sound of my own voice which has been on replay, I duck my head into my hand "Can anyone hear me? This is Avery Armelle. Over." Shoving away the anxiety which is creeping up on me, I plead desperately "Can anyone hear me dammit!"

"Ave! Ave it's me!" Bellamy's voice quickly speaks over the line and I find my eyes widening. Sharing a triumphant glance with Octavia, Bellamy desperately asks "Ave are you alright? Is O al-"

"She's okay. Bell she won", I stress to him. When I get nothing back, I blurt "What's happened? What the hell have you done?"

"It wasn't me."

"Let me guess. Jaha."

"Clarke's a worthy mention"

"Clarke!"
