It's a cloudy gray day in Hawkins. Tree branches rumble, causing their green leaves to fall off, some landing on El's hair.
Last night, Max had convinced her that Diana was more than okay, that she could stand her ground around Billy if she wanted to. It only worked for a few hours though, because now the duo was on their way to Diana's house. El couldn't sleep at all last night, hence why they're starting their day so early.
"It's gonna start pouring soon," Max starts, "we should be at the mall or watching a movie or something."El knew the mall nor the movies are open at eight in the morning, Max was just making excuses for some odd reason.
"You don't believe me?" El softly asks
"I believe you saw some super weird stuff, totally! But you said Mike has sensed you in there before? Maybe it was just like that, maybe Billy just sensed you somehow," Max looks down at the grass as she speaks.
"But the screams–"
"Yeah I know but here's the thing," Max looks like she didn't want to get into this conversation, "when Billy is alone with a girl, for the past year the girl has been Diana, they make like...really crazy noises."
"They scream?" El looks at her worriedly.
"Yes but it's like happy screams?" Max scrunches her nose.
"Happy screams? What is happy screams?"
"It's like...I'm just gonna lend you my moms cosmo," Max, completely embarrassed by conversation, ending it.
(A/N: HAHAHA WHEN I SAW THIS SCENE I AUTOMATICALLY KNEW I HAD TO EMBARRASS DIANA)
The girls had reached her house, the only car in sight being Diana's shiny red one. Walking up the steps, they reach the cherry brown door and Max repeatedly knocks on the wood.
