08 | take off your mask
'Local hero, Spider-Man came to the rescue in Queens, New York once again after Hell Gate bridge set on fire due to an unknown entity. Police are still searching—'
Athena sighed as she flicked off the news channel. She was getting close to uncovering the secret of spider-mans identity — slowly but surely.
The other night, at the party everyone ran to the windows to see the explosion and Athena couldn't find peter. She thought that maybe he just got lost in the crowd or maybe went home, but a small part of her thought about the possibility of Peter being spider-man.
She tried to push the thoughts to the back of her mind as she finished her breakfast.
"Second week back to school, are you excited?" Nat asked as she poured milk into her cereal.
"No" Athena grumbled, lazily lounging against her hand as she stirred her spoon.
"And why is that?" Natasha smirked, placing a hand on her hip.
The blonde shrugged "I don't know, I'm kind of annoyed I haven't found him yet."
"Thea, you can't complete an identity mission in less than a week." Nat said "unless, I mean, you kill them first or are at risk of uncovering your own."
Athena sighed and nodded "yeah, I know, I just keep forgetting my mask. I'm getting closer though, very close."
"That's good." Nat said, scruffing the blondes hair up. "How is school, anyway?"
"It's good." The teenager nodded "I mean, found a couple of great friends, already made an enemy, too."
"Good for you" Widow nodded before side eyeing the girl "any boys?"
Athena shrugged, but her mind wandered to Peter for an unknown reason. She swore didn't like him, but then again, she didn't know what liking someone felt like.
"There is this boy..." she stumbled off causing Natasha to smirk.
"His name?"
"Peter Parker," she admitted "I don't like him but... he's cute."
"Just remember, Thea.." Natasha started "any boy that doesn't want you is a fool. You're a superhero for crying out loud. Never let a male get you down."
"I could never."

Athena pulled the black mask over her eyes, ready to catch the spider the next time she saw him. She was in her suit — it's all black, leather-metal material complimenting her curves. She was happy that the suit was comfortable for her, unlike Natasha's. She constantly complained about getting camel toes.
"Where are you, spider-man." She whispered to herself as she looked through the dark night to see the rooftops, something she had done many times in the last week.
All of a sudden, a thwipping noise blared out in front of her, followed along with a white string of web and the spider-boy in his crappy homemade suit. He landed on the building across from her, causing the girl to sneakily stun up behind him.
The girl used her purple magic to blast herself over the rooftop, causing her hair and eyes to start glowing a vibrant purple. The spiderman turned around, noticing the girl flying in the air causing his eyes to widen under his crappy goggles.
Athena dropped herself on top of him and straddled his neck, trying her best to flip him onto his back, but underestimating how strong he was.
"Woah, woah, woah, wait. Athen—" The man under the mask said as Athena grabbed his swaying arm and used it to jump off and then punch his chest into the ground. She smirked in victory as she placed her foot on his chest. "Athena!" He breathed out in a fan girl tone before his mind came to a realisation "Why is Athena fighting me?"
The voice sounded familiar for some reason, but apart of her thought he was masking it.
"Why aren't you fighting back?" She furrowed her brows with a smirk as she made her hair stop glowing, but not her eyes. To him, her voice sounded familiar too.
"Well, I mean, if you, Athena, an avenger, is fighting me, I obviously did something wrong." He said with an awkward chuckle. "Plus, i don't really stand a chance, do I?"
"Probably not," she smirked "but I need you to do me a favour, Spidey."
"Anything."
"Take off your mask." The blonde smirked causing the spider to frown.
"Anything besides that" he said, his voice now becoming less and less masked.
"Fine..." she breathed out, beginning to bend down "I'll do it for you."
The spider quickly tapped into his instincts and kicked the girl's leg off of his chest and pushing her onto the floor.
He stood up and breathed out "sorry, but... no one can know who I am."
"I'm doing it for the best." She said, standing up from her fallen position "trust me."
"I can't" the spider said before swinging off through the town.
Athena fell onto her knees in a semi-defeated huff. On one part, she had an interaction with the spider, on another, she could have done it in that moment but didn't.
His voice was familiar though, something she'd sworn she had heard before but couldn't quiet put her finger on it.
She looked out into the night, watching the web slinger swing away.
