59 | my best girl

ATHENA: PHANTOM

Clint jabbed at the young girl multiple times, first her face, then her stomach and then back at her face. Athena avoided the last one, stepping aside before quickly swinging her leg around and kicking Clint over the head.

He fell onto the grass, but quickly readjusted himself and started to jump again. "You gotta do better than that, Thea."

"Believe me, I will." She jabbed at his face before quickly sliding between his legs and grabbing his legs to tackle him to the floor. As he started to get up, she quickly grabbed his shoulder and pinned it to the ground before placing her foot on his chest to hold him down.

"You gonna give up yet?" She smirked playfully, looking down at him as he closed and opened his eyes.

"Not yet" he said, grabbing her leg and tackling her to the floor. She quickly kicked herself back up as he sent two more jabs at her head, both which she took. He smirked at her as she tried to go for his stomach but he grabbed hold of her arm and brought her into a choke hold. The girl simply smirk and flipped him over, making him land on his back as she once again, placed her foot on his chest.

"What about now?" She once again smirked, a playful pout on her lips as she looked down at him.

"Fine! Whatever, you win!" He groaned loudly causing the girl to smile in victory and cheer loudly to herself.

"Bet Natasha taught you all those moves, didn't she?" Clint smirked causing the girl to give him a small smile.

"She taught me everything I know" she said, holding her hand out to help Clint up. He took her hand and allowed her to help him off of the grass.

It had been almost month since Natasha and Tony died, and three weeks since the funeral. She had been staying with Clint and his family since the fight, she'd only seen peter and may at the funeral. But because of school, and the fact that Clint knew she needed a normal life away from being a superhero, Athena was being moved back to New York to live with Peter and May until she was old enough to move out.

All of her things were destroyed from Thanos, so it wasn't that hard for her to move.

"She didn't teach you how to shoot a bow and arrow, that's for sure." Clint laughed as he grabbed his towel from the bench and wiped off the sweat on his forehead.

"Only you gave me that expertise, Barron" Athena smiled over at him "only you."

"Thank you. Thank you." he smirked playfully as he bowed before her, causing the girl to laugh at his actions.

At the moment, Athena preferred being around Clint than anyone else, even Peter and May. Sure, she loved and appreciated them with all her heart but Clint made her think about the good times with Natasha, he gave her memories that made her feel like she was with her again. Plus, his wife made one hell of a meatloaf.

"Alright, kid, let's head back inside before Laura yells at us for messing up the lawn." Clint said, patting the girl's back as they both walked back into the farm house.

As they stepped through the doors, Athena's nostrils were immediately filled with the familiar scent of her favourite food. "Is that meatloaf!?"

"Yes, it is" Laura smiled as she appeared in the kitchen.

"I'm officially in love with you" Athena shook her head with a wide smile "you're the mother I never had."

Laura laughed as she walked over to the girl and placed her hands on her shoulders. "Well, you're leaving tomorrow. Only the best for my best girl."

"I thought I was your best girl?" Lila, Clint's daughter, questioned, appearing from the stair case with a playful smile. Yeah, she was definitely Clint's child.

"Oh, don't worry, Lila, you'll always be second best." Athena joked as she turned to the girl with a joking smile.

"Well," The brunette girl said, walking over to the two, "it was nice being your kid, mom."

Laura laughed as she placed an arm around her daughter "oh, you know i love you."

"Come on, Kiddos! Time for dinner!" Clint called out for the other kids to come down for dinner.

"Does she really have to leave?" Nate said as he lazily sat down on his slightly raised chair beside Athena. She looked to him and chuckled as Cooper, Clint's other son came into the kitchen and took a seat opposite her.

"Yeah, why can't she stay?" Lila asked "just for a couple more days?"

"I'd love that. How about it Clint?" The girl looked over at him with pleading eyes, not wanting to go back to the cold place she knew as Queens, New York.

"Nice try, Thea" Clint shook his head "but you have school on Tuesday."

"I don't have to go! Come on! Please!" She begged causing the other children to join in on the begging.

"Alright, alright, you can stay!" Clint said causing the girl to smile.

"Really?"

"No" His face fell flat again causing her to sigh loudly and pick up her fork. "Ms Parker and that Peter boy will be at the train station waiting for you tomorrow morning at 11 to pick you up and take you back home."

I don't have a home. She thought to herself. Not anymore.

She sighed loudly and nodded lazily "okay."
