It was the academic decathlon, and Athena was beyond annoyed. She'd have to spend three days at school alone because her stupid probation meant she couldn't leave the city.

Liz was going. Athena thought she would get suspended for what she did but no, she only got a weeks worth of detention.

Peter was on his own mission to take down a guy with alien tech. Athena only hoped he wouldn't hurt himself, and that he would stay safe. But she knew that wouldn't happen.

"Peter!" She called out, seeing him rush towards the bus. He turned around quickly to face her as she hugged him.
"Don't do anything stupid, please. I'm trusting you not to die."

"I won't die" he chuckled as she pulled away from the hug.

She bit her lip and looked up at him, seeing him stare at her with the same admiration in his eyes. She brought him into another hug and buried her face into his neck.

"Please, be safe." She whispered but knew he heard it.

"I promise, Thea. I'll be safe."

"Safe!" The girl exclaimed into the phone "what happened to safe, Peter?"

She was watching the news and saw that the Washington Monument has exploded with the decathlon team from Midtown High.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He panicked "the core turned out to be a bomb and it exploded whilst Ned and the others were in an elevator. I couldn't just leave them!"

"Yeah," Athena scoffed "and where were you?"

"I was..." he trailed off "stuck in one of the highest secured buildings in Washington."

"Why?" She said angrily, her voice filled with confusion.

"Well, I was following the Vulture guy and he knocked me into a truck. And then yeah, I woke up and I was in there."

"That's not safe" she said, emphasising on their conversation from two days ago.

"I know, I know, and I'm sorry for lying to you, I really am." He said with a sigh "but I'm onto something."

"I get it's exciting, Peter," she sighed "but when you're older, you'll regret not living a normal teenage life."

Peter looked out of the window of the bus and sighed "I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow."

Athena rolled her eyes and placed the phone down, not even bothering to say goodbye.

After everything that happened, the last thing she wanted was for Peter to her hurt.

"You're idiots, both of you" Athena said as she walked through the school hallway, them following close behind. "Who brings a bomb on a trip? Dumbasses! Both of you!"

"Well, you didn't tell me you were Athena." Ned shrugged.

"Ned!" Peter warned as Athena looked to him with her jaw dropped.
