28 | lady of war
As the car pulled up outside the Avengers facility, Athena smiled at Peter who had excitement written all over his face.
They walked inside and stood for a few minutes until tony walked in, "oh, there they are. How was the ride up? Athena, good to see you."
"Good," Happy nodded his head.
"Give me a minute with the kid." Tony said to Happy and Athena.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah," Tony nodded "I gotta talk to the kid."
"I'll be close behind." Happy said.
"How about a lose follow? Boundaries are good."
Peter and Tony started talking whilst happy turned to Athena. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you."
"It's okay, I'm just a kid, it's kind of hard to believe one of those." She chuckled.
"No doubt about that" Happy exaggerated causing the girl to laugh.
They both turned their attention back to the others who were still talking.
"I think with some mentoring, you'd be a great asset to the team." Tony admitted.
"T-to the team?" Peter raised his eyebrows as he stuttered.
"When you're ready," Tony said as a door opened, revealing an iron spider-man suit. "Why don't you try that on? And I'll introduce the world the newest official avenger, Spider-Man."
Athena grinned widely at the thought of being on a team with Peter, after all, they were dating.
"So, after the press conference, Happy will show you to your room, your new headquarters. Who's he between, he's next to Vision? There was no way we were putting you next to Thea, we don't know what kind of shit you kids would be getting up to."
Athena smiled and shook her head.
"You'll fit right in."
Peter took in a sharp breath and turned back to tony "thank you, Mr Stark. But I'm— im good."
"You're good?" Tony seemed confused. "Uh- how are you good?"
"Well I— I mean— I- um would rather just stay on the ground for a little while, friendly neighbourhood spider-man." Peter spoke "somebody's got to look after the little guy, right?"
Athena grinned at his words as she leaned against the pillar.
"Are you turning me down?" Tony asked, "you gotta think about this, look at that, look at me. Last chance, yes or no?"
"No," Peter answered.
"Okay," Tony said "Uh, Happy will take you home, yeah?"
"Yeah, go wait in the car, I need a minute." Happy said, "Athena go with him."
Peter stopped in his tracks and turned around "that was a test right? There's no body back there?"
"Yeah, you passed." Tony said before they both started walking again.
"I can't believe you just did that," Athena shook her head, "you were set on becoming an Avenger."
"Yeah, well, after what happened I'm not sure I'm ready." Peter admitted as they reached the outside.
"That was a wise choice, Parker. Taking my advice, I see." Athena smirked as she leaned against the limousine.
"Are you always gonna call me that?" He asked as he turned to face her.
Athena smiled and pushed herself up off of the limo, wrapping her arms around his neck, "mm, yes." she said before kissing him.

two months later
"I'll see you at school tomorrow, okay?" Athena said as she gave peter a quick kiss and got off of the bed, "bye Ned."
"Kind of offended I didn't get the same goodbye but fine." Ned said sarcastically.
Athena chuckled at the two before leaving the room. As she walked through the hallway and into the kitchen, she saw Aunt May leaning against the counter.
"Leaving so soon?" May asked as she looked at Athena.
"Yeah, well, Tony wants me home, you know how he is." The girl nervously chuckled.
May walked over to her, "I just wanted to say thank you for everything you've done for Peter. I mean, with this whole spider-man thing, it's crazy. I'm just glad you can bring him back to being a normal boy again."
Not long after Peter found Vulture, Tony gave him his suit back and May saw him. Then, not long after, she found out that she was Athena.
"I'm glad too," Athena smiled. "But it's not all me, it's you. After all, who's Aunt would support their nephew being a superhero and look as hot as you do."
"Oh, stop it you're making me blush." May chuckled before bringing Athena into a hug.
"You're a good kid, Thea."
Soon after the conversation with May, Athena left.
Now on the streets of busy manhattan, Athena took notice of two familiar faces standing on the sidewalk looking at a demolished building; one good, one bad.
"Thor!" Athena exclaimed before running up to him and taking him in a hug.
"Oh, it's little Athena!" He chuckled, taking the girl into a hug. "It's great to see you again my child."
Athena pulled out of the hug and smiled at him, "What are you doing here? And why'd you bring him with you? He's a threat." She raised her eyebrows as she glanced at Loki.
All of a sudden, a hole in the ground formed around Loki.
"What is this?" Thor exclaimed "w-what are you doing?"
"This isn't me," said loki before falling into the hole. On the floor was a paper where Loki was once stood.
"Loki?" Thor said as he poked it with an umbrella.
Athena shook her head as she bent down to pick up the paper, she turned it over and saw some writing on it.
"177A Bleecker st" Athena read out and looked up at Thor in confusion "do you reckon that's where Loki disappeared to?"
"I don't know, but will you, Lady if War, join me on my noble quest to find my brother?"
The girl chuckled, "sure, let's go."
