12 | i really hope so

"Peter?" She asked, her eyes wide in shock.

"W-What?" He said, crawling out from underneath the shocked girl "you-you know me? H-how?"

She was confused at first as to why he didn't recognise her, and then she realised that she too was disguised.

"Right" she said, making her hair and eyes stop glowing and then taking off her black mask. She knew she wasn't supposed to, but she trusted Peter. "I guess my secrets been revealed."

His eyes went wide in shock "Holy-oh, - oh my god- h-holy-"

"Peter, it's me. Just.... me." She breathed out, looking him in the eyes.

"Just you" Peter raised an eyebrow as he stood up, completely bewildered "I've been talking to an avenger this entire time. And not just any avenger, you!"

It all finally clicked together now; the purple flecks in her eyes from her magic; the reason she was extremely smart; how she had an internship with Tony Stark.

It all made sense.

"Yeah, and i've been talking to spider-man" she freaked out "I could have finished this mission weeks ago!"

"Mission?" He asked, his tone falling low.

"Yeah, my mission" she admitted. "To find spider-man and tell Tony who you are."

"Tony?" Peter questioned "as in Tony Stark?"

Athena smirked and nodded her head "the one and only."

"This could..." he breathed out "this could possibly be the greatest day of my life."

"Peter, you can't tell anyone about me, not even Ned." She admitted "you understand that, right?"

"Sure-Yeah,Yeah, i know." He nodded, crossing his arms over his chest in attempt to hide his excitement.

"Peter." She said seriously, looking deep into his brown puppy dog eyes "I'm serious, if you tell anyone, my life could be on the line."

His heart stopped racing as fast as he looked seriously into her eyes "I promise, I won't tell anyone. I promise, Thea."

She smiled as they stared into each others eyes for slightly more than ten seconds.

"I still Uh, I still call you Thea, right?" He asked with an unsure smile.

"Yeah," she nodded her name "it's short for Athena, not Theodora."

"That makes so much more sense" Peter reminisced as he watched the girl take a seat on the edge of the building.

"But I'm not sure you'll have to keep calling me it" she said, looking out into the city.

Peter walked over and sat next to her, his face filled with confusion "why not?"

"Now that I've found you..." she trailed off "I don't really need to go back to school."

"Oh" his face fell low as he looked away and down at the crappy mask in his hand. "I mean, you still could?"

She gave him a sad smile "I don't need to, Peter."

"I know, it's just..." he paused and looked back at her face "MJ, Ned and I, we enjoyed having you around. You were a great new addition to our group."

Athena looked down and grabbed the boy's hand, holding it up into the air as she shifted her body to face him "who knows" she spoke, interwining their fingers "maybe one day... I'll come back?"

Peter pierced his lips together and nodded his head, squeezing her hand "I really hope so."

Athena blasted the dummies chest, then it's head, causing it to fall off. She then turned to her right and did the exact same thing, and then repeated it again on her left.

"You finally finished your mission, that's great." Natasha said as she walked into the gym with a bottle of water in her hands, handing it to the blonde. "At least now you can stop going to school."

"Yeah, it's a relief really, was getting too much negative attention." Athena shrugged her shoulders before kicking the dummy behind her and continued to fight it whilst Nat kept talking.

"School always brings you negative attention" Natasha said "believe me, Steve told me." Athena chuckled, hitting the dummy with her first before round-housing it's head. "You sure you wanna stop going back to school? I feel like it really took your mind off of things."

"I'll find a new occupation" Athena said in a groan as she wiped the sweat from her forehead.

"Are you sure you need to?" The red head asked "won't you miss your friends?"

"I couldn't care less about them" she lied, not wanting to get back into the topic of leaving school.

"Okay" Natasha pierced her lips together. "Do you wanna come out for lunch with me tomorrow morning?"

Athena stopped, holding the dummy in its place before turning to Natasha. "Sure."
