The boys laughter, echoed off the concrete building walls, as my footsteps created a light patter noise against the side walk. I glanced behind me, seeing that the three boys shadows were getting larger, indicating that they were getting closer.

I thought, quickly. I turned the corner into a dark alley, between to buildings. Once i realized, i was at a dead end, i began to panic. I heard the men getting closer, and since it was night, nobody was outside, no body was here to rescue me.

i was alone in this moment.

I spotted something, making me regain hope, instantly.

I jogged over to the large, dark green, seaweed colored, dumpster. I pushed it, with all my strength, to the side of the building.  Once it was there, i shut it, lightly, pushing myself on top of it, with my arm muscles, and hopping up.

I used this to my advantage, using it to get to the top of the building. I crouched down, waiting for the guys to run past where i just was.

"where the fuck you at, Nessa ?" I heard one of the guys whisper.

I knew it was dangerous to stick around outside, in Broward, this late, but I had to pay off the drug dealer for my mom.

She was a drug addict, and always bought, or stole drugs, without having the money. So i had to get a job, just to do it for her.

I know what your thinking, why don't i just stop letting her use drugs?

Because last time i did, she broke a glass bottle on my head.

Now, since she steals from drug dealers, she has enemies, and i mean a lot of enemies. We still get drive bys, we still get pulled over on the road, and some people even target me, just because im related to their enemy.

None of this was my fault, obviously, but it is what it is, and i gotta live through this.

I peeked over the edge of the top of the building, which unfortunately for me, was the wrong time to do it.

"there she is" One of Taymors friends, pointed to me, as the other two were looking around.

I exhaled, getting up, and beginning to run. The rest of them followed after me, except on the ground. Once i got to the edge of the building, i realized there was no way i could go.

The guys stood right under me, and i looked around, seeing if i could spot anything that'd save my life, but that was cut off, and thats all i remember.

Stokeley was driving the van, as I sat in the passenger seat, beside him, taking a puff from a new port, that i had just bought.

We drove past, Taymor and his two friends, looking up at something. I wasn't trying to be nosy, but my eyes just followed where he was looking.

A scared looking girl stood on the top of a building, above them. She was Asian, and had a slim build, wearing all black, as if...she wasn't trying to be spotted. I seen Taymor pull a glock out his pocket, aiming it at the girl when she wasn't looking at them.

He pulled the trigger and the girl became lifeless, her non-moving body falling off the shorter type building.

I exhaled, as i watched her get shot.

"god damn" Stokeley mumbled. He seen it out of the corner of his eye.

Taymor and his friends began to chuckle, leaving her there to bleed out, and die, on the sidewalk.

I didn't really want to do anything about it. I didn't know who this girl was, but i would feel guilty if i didn't do anything.

"pull over, vro" I told Ski.

"nigga, what?" Stokeley asked.

"please just pull over" I said, shaking my head

Stokeley shrugged, pulling over to the side walk. I got out, dropping my cigarette in the water, that was on the edge of the road, from when it had rained, yesterday. Stokeley got out as well, leaning on the edge of the van, as i approached her body.

Up close, i could see that her silky hair was put up in to a neat bun, and her nails were done. She had a gold necklace, placed around her neck, and a matching gold anklet, with some checkered, low top slip on vans.

Her mouth was closed, and her eyes were lightly closed as well. She looked at piece, but i knew she wasn't.

He had got her right in her thigh.

First i checked her pulse, making sure she was still alive, and luckily, she was, but i knew she wouldn't be for long if she stayed here to bleed out.

I grabbed her, which certainly wasn't a struggle due to her being a light weight, putting her over my shoulder. Stokeley opened the backseat door for me, as I gently placed her down, in a laying position.

we both got back in the car, as the streets and sidewalks were empty. Ski put the car in drive, and began to the way home.

"you really had to do that?" Stokeley asked me, not keeping his eyes off the road.

"yes....yes i did"
