I look up at Bane and smile. "Hey, what are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that," he says with a chuckle and I raise my eyebrows. "I'm here because this will be our training ground for a while."

I tense, but lean my body on the table, trying to act as natural as possible.

"What are you doing here?" He asks.

"Visiting family," I say.

He hums before looking over at Adonis, raising an eyebrow in question.

"He's my boyfriend," I say. "Edgar, Bane, Bane, Edgar. Edgar, is Laviana's older brother."

Adonis nods at Bane in greeting and they shake hands. Bane crosses his arms, turning his attention to me.

"A little birdie told me that you and Laviana aren't friends anymore."

I look up at him, making sure my eyes were guarded. "Yeah, we had a falling out."

"Oh man, that sucks. I know how close you guys were," he says. "Maybe you can fix it."

"Yeah," I say, standing up. "I'm sorry to cut this short but we need to go."

"No problem," he said, backing up. "I'll be back home in like, three to five days. Hopefully you and Laviana have made up by then and we can all hang."

I give him a tight smile. "I hope so."

"Have a fun time with your family!" Bane calls as Adonis and I start walking away after leaving money on the table. "North Carolina is a beautiful place!"

I give Bane a thumbs up, not looking back at him. Adonis and I walk around the semi-busy streets outside of Hank's in silence before we start heading to a woody area.

"Florida isn't that far from North Carolina," I say. "It's just like, two states down."

Adonis nods and looks at the time.

"I don't think we will be able to talk to the Nymphs today. By the time we get there it's going to be pretty late."

I bite my lip but nod.

"We should have enough money for a motel room," I mumble. "We need to get a motel room close to their kingdom."

Adonis nods and I wait for him to cloak us. We take our wings out and almost instantly, blue fills my vision. I freeze before looking Adonis in the eyes. He sees the blue and slowly nods, taking in his wings.

"I'll cover you, go in a tree."

I nod and slowly lift myself in the air, looking around the entire time to make sure that there aren't any surprises. Once I'm in a tree, I take my wings in and nod at Adonis. He drops the cover he had on me and starts walking around, looking for a threat.

I don't like this, Daeva says and I nod.

It seems too quiet.

I look around, trying to notice anything that would seem out of place in woods of North Carolina. As I look around, I notice that I can't see Adonis.

I swear if this idiot gets hurt I'll make sure to kill him.

I hear Daeva laughing and I shake my head at her, a small smile on my face. Before Daeva could speak, I froze. I need to find Adonis, he shouldn't be by himself, there are Hunters here. I slowly lower myself from the tree, not letting my wings out.

Daeva, can you set out a path so we can find Adonis? I ask and immediately a gold path is glowing in front of me. Thanks.
