It's advisory and Lavina, my best friend, and I signed up for our math teacher Ms McLean just to get out of advisory.

Honestly, being a freshman sucks ass.

I can't wait till this year is over, I think to myself. No more needed to find excuses to leave advisory

As Lavina and I are walking downstairs, we see the vice principal, Mr. Baxter.

I narrow my eyes at the waste of space.

Give me a detention. I dare you.

We pass him with no interaction at all, and I feel my shoulders relax.

Lavina and I get to our spot by one of the chargers and put out bags down and plug our phones in, then head to Ms McLean's room.

We stay in there for about five minutes just so she sees that we're there and puts it into the system.

"Wanna go get food?" I ask Lavina.

She nods and we go into the cafeteria to get something to eat.

I decided to get some pizza while Lavina got meat, rice with vegetables and a pack of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

We walk back to our spot and finish our food while talking about what happened in our first two blocks.

The end bell for advisory rings and more kids pour out into the hallways, and about ten minutes later our friend Zyana walks over to us with a small bucket full of flowers.

I lean against the wall and look at Zyana with my eyebrows raised, a small teasing smile on my face.

"Kingston?" I ask, my smile growing at Zyana's reaction.

After she's sees I find enjoyment in embarrassing her with her boyfriend, she rolls her eyes and puts the flowers near my face.

"Want to sniff the cocaine out of them again?" She asks.

My smile grows and a mischievous glint enters my eyes as I bend down to smell the flowers.

As quickly as the glint came, it left with my smile.

The pain in my back has returned.

I stood up slowly and tried to keep the scream inside.

"You good?" Zyana asks.

I bite my tongue, but nod at Zyana.

Just then, Zyana's older brother, Jason, comes over.

"Yo, you good?" He asks, looking at me. "Looks like you hurt your back."

I look at him and give a small smile to show him that I'm fine.

Just to prove my point, I bend down and grab a granola bar from my bag. I come up slowly, wincing, but I still come up.

Jason narrows his eyes at me and then nods, walking down the hall.

I finish my granola bar, and walk down the same hallway as Jason to throw away the wrapper.

I see Jason talking to Azrael, Zyana's other brother, and their friend Ashe. Once I get by the garbage, all of them look at me.

I furrow my eyebrows confused but walk back to my friends.

We talk and joke around, and when the bell rings, go to class.

After classes ended, we went to meet up in front of Zyana's bus, and talked and joked around some more.

After that, we all went home and all I remember was sitting on the couch, opening the door for my sister to come in, and then knocking out.
