(y/n pov)

You woke up to the feeling of your phone buzzing in your hand. You squinted and blinked, remembering how you fell asleep over facetime with your best friend. You looked down to see your phone still buzzing. You answered without checking the number.

"Hello?" You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.

"It's Grayson," You sat up and sighed as he spoke. You smiled at the sound of his voice. But then, he spoke again. "I don't feel so good, y/n." He said. You sat on the side of your bed.

"Where are you?" He didn't respond, and you stood up, pulling on a sweatshirt as you spoke. "Grayson, where are you?" You walked out of your room, phone to your ear.

"The park," He finally said. You got into your car and began to drive. You were lucky you were home alone, for once. "Don't end the call." He whispered. You pressed the phone to your ear with your shoulder.

"I won't," You said, going over the speed limit. "Why are you at the park, Gray?" You asked. He sighed.

"I can't sleep," He said. You heard the sound of a rock hit the metal of the playscape. "Are you coming here? You don't ha-" You cut him short.

"I'm coming," You said. "Don't go anywhere, Grayson. I'm coming."

Grayson was your friend. Actually, he was your friend's boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend, now. You thought they were in love. But apparently, it was just Grayson. She was cheating on him, the whole time. And when he found out – it broke him. And especially since it was with your ex – you were very involved.

Now, you weren't far into your relationship, not as far as Grayson was in his. And when you found out they were cheating, you were just done with him. You didn't care too much. Sure, it hurt. But in the end, he was just another fuckboy. And you let yourself forget.

Grayson, couldn't forget. He'd loved her. And the thought of her cheating broke him to pieces. And she left you to pick them up for him. You loved Grayson, he was one of your best friends. And the fact that he was still breaking at the thought of her, hurt you. And no matter what time of day, you were going to be there for him.

Like now, at 2 in the morning, at the park near your school.

"I'm here, Gray, where are you?" You asked. You looked around getting out of your car. Locking it behind you, you saw Grayson sitting at the top of the slides. You ended the phone call, and you watched him stare at his blank phone. You sighed and walked to him. "Hey," you said. He looked up, as you climbed the slide, to sit next to him.

He stared at you as you sat down. "You didn't have to come," He said. You shook your head and looked up to see his cheeks stained. "I'm going to explode." He said.

You shook your head. You wiped at his face and smiled. "You're going to stay in one piece, thank you very much." He looked down. "Are you thinking about her?" You asked. He shook his said.

"I don't think about her," He whispered. You nodded.

"Do you think that's good or bad?" You asked. He looked up. "Gray?"

"Good." You nodded and sighed, leaning your head on his shoulder. "Bad things come with thinking about her." You nodded.

"Then I'm glad you don't think about her anymore," You said. "Why don't you feel so good, Gray?" You asked. He looked up at the night sky.

"I feel like I fall in love with all the wrong people," He said. "Like all the people that probably don't love me, I love." You sighed.

"I thought you weren't thinking about her?" You said, more as a question. He shook his head.

"I'm not talking about her." He said. You nodded, not understanding. You let it be and the two of you sat in silence. He broke it in a few minutes. "Do you love Ethan?" He asked. You raised your eyebrows and smiled, looking up at him.

"What?" You asked, laughing. He looked down at you, a troubled look on his face. You tilted your head. "Of course, I love him, he's my friend," You said finally.

"You know what I mean," He said. "Do you love him?" You shook your head,

"Not like that, I don't," You said. He looked back down, nodding. "Gray, where is this coming from?" He sighed.

"I think I-" You cut him off.

"Hold on, are you," You paused. "Sober?" He looked up at you, eyes wide. He nodded. "Okay." You said. You always had this troubling fear of Grayson doing something like that, to cope with his emotions. But you believed him when he said he didn't.

"I think I like someone, again." You raised your eyebrows. "I think she's nice." He said. You smiled.

"That's great Gray, I bet she's wonderful." You said. You couldn't help but feel a little sad. Over the past few months, you'd slowly felt yourself, liking Gray. You never knew if it was really, loving him. But something was there. "I'm happy for you."

"No, I don't think- I don't think she likes me." He said.

"What's there not to like?" You said. You looked over at Grayson. "You're a good person, and any girl would be lucky to have you." You said.

"Would you feel lucky?" He asked. Your eyebrows flew up and you smiled. "

"Sure I would," You said. "You're very likable, Gray." You said with a smile.

"Okay then. " He said. You sat for a little in silence, until he broke it once again. "So, I like you." He said, bluntly.

Your eyes popped out of their sockets as you stared up at him. "Gray?" You asked, to make sure if you'd heard him correctly.

"Yeah, I think I might kinda like you, sorry." He said. You shook your head. "You're also very likable. And pretty. You're really pretty."

You felt the heat rush up to your cheeks as you looked down. "You like me?" You whispered. He nodded as you looked back up.

"I mean it's okay if you don't feel the same way." He said. "I just said so I don't fall harder and get heart br-" But you cut him off by placing your lips to his.

You grabbed his face and pulled away slowly. You looked back at him, clasping both his hands together in yours. "I feel the same way." You said.

"I had a feeling," He said, before asking to kiss you again.
