TRIGGER WARNING: self-harm :(
(y/n pov)
"Are you finish- wow, see this is what I'm talking about," your teacher exclaimed, doing a 360 with your sculpture. A sense of pride ran through your veins. "This is amazing, y/n, good work."
"Thank you," you said, setting it on the rack. You admired it for a moment. You were really proud of this one.
"Now, I was just coming to ask if you'd mind helping a student?" You nodded quickly. "He's having- some trouble using the gesso." You smiled. "Grayson, over there?" you turned to see him, still fiddling with the base wire. You smiled.
"Sure, I just- help?" She nodded.
"Thank you." You nodded and walked over to your classmate. Sleeves rolled up to his elbows, the white paint like substance all over the place, he looked up at you.
"Hey- uh, Wilson asked if I could help you" you asked nicely. You didn't know many of the students in the elective. You didn't talk to anyone, wanting to give the class your full attention- being your favorite.
"Oh fuck, yeah, please," he sigehd, stepping away. You smiled.
"Well, I can't do it for you," you said, looking over at it. "Oh, you didn't bend it we-" you stopped yourself, trying not to sound mean.
"Nah, fuck it, I have no idea what I'm doing." You smiled, fiddling with the wire, already covered in- paint?
"Is this white paint?" you asked. He nodded.
"Isn't that-"
"We're using gesso- no wonder it's not stick- oh no, no," you sighed. He frowned. "You use gesso first, so that you can paint over it and it'll stick." He frowned.
"Oh."
"You'll have to restart, I think." He frowned.
"It's due on tuesday- there's no way I'll finish." You shrugged. "Are you my partner now?" he asked with a smile. He was so sweet.
"Sure," you said, shaking your head. Your teacher walked past. You explained how he'd gone wrong and she sighed.
"This really wasn't the elective for you, hm?" she asked him. He sighed, shrugging. His hand went to run though his - awfully nice - hair, but he stopped, realizing his paint covered fingertips.
"I wanted volleyball but spots were full," he said with a longing sigh. You smiled. "No disrespect or anything, though, miss," he said quickly. Ms. Wilson shook her head.
"No worries, I know what it's like to be put in a class you aren't interested in." You smiled, unsure of what to do. "Well, you're going to have to restart the thing, you're lucky I have extra bases."
"Thank you," he said, politely. You smiled.
"But he might not finish in time," you told her. "You said three coats of gesso, and he wont have enough ti-"
"You weren't wasting time, Grayson, I can push the date back a little for you." He smiled at her. There was a reason she was your favourite teacher. "But, you'll be needing y/n's help, I think."
"If she's willing to help, I'll gladly take it," he said with a grin. You smiled, shrugging.
"I'm done, I don't mind." Ms. Wilson nodded.
"There you go, you have until, how about next Thursday? Two extra days?" He nodded. "Okay, that fives you a week, and with y/n's help, you'll do well." He gave her a thankful smile and you thanked her for the compliment.
