"Gray," You called from your room. Grayson came into the room, three mugs balanced in his arms. One for himself and two for you and Gray's daughter growing in your stomach.

"One sec, baby," He called back, opening the door with his arm, careful not to spill the hot chocolate he'd made for you. "Everythi-" But you cut him off as you watched the fluid drip down the side of your leg.

"Grayson, my water broke," You said. You weren't screaming. You simply informed him. But that was enough for Grayson to send both mugs crashing to the floor and into the room. He cursed as he scooped you up, still not even to his own weight, and carried you to his car.

"You're going to be okay," He assured you as he sped to the hospital. You nodded, squeezing his hand in pain and holding onto your stomach.

"It hurts," You whispered, with all the energy you had left. He squeezed your hand back lightly.

"You're going to be okay," He whispered. You nodded, tears streaming down your face as you squeezed your eyes shut.

As soon as you entered the hospital, you were rolled into a room. You weren't really paying attention to what was happening to you, except for Grayson, holding your hand next to you. You just wanted your little princess out in this world safe.

"I think you're ready to push," The doctor said after what felt like forever. You nodded quickly and got ready for a natural birth.

Everything was going well, you just felt a panging in your chest that you probably should've let the doctor know about. You weren't scared, you were just relieved to hear the sound of your baby's cries when she was born.

You watched with hazy eyes as Grayson held your daughter in his large hands and then cut her umbilical cord. You felt a tear roll down your cheek as you cried in happiness. She was out, healthy, and ready to go. You'd never been so happy. You'd brought a baby into this world.

"I'm so proud of you," Grayson whispered, pushing back your matted down strands of hair from your eyes. You nodded as your chest heaved up and down.

"I l-love y-ou," You stuttered, feeling like you couldn't breathe. Grayson scanned your face and looked over at the daughter. "Gr-gray-"

"She's flatlining," The doctor said, rushing over to your side. Your mind wandered all over the place as you felt things you couldn't feel being done to you. The only thing you could hear was Grayson yelling.

"Sir, you have to leave," You heard a nurse say to him and you turned with the little energy you had to see her pushing him out the door. You let out a shout, which really came out a whimper, and Grayson turned to you.

Moving past the nurse he rushed to your side, grabbing your hand. "You're going to be okay, I promise," He whispered. But even you knew you couldn't make it. Gray knew too, with all the faces the doctor had been making. "Y/N he called. You shook your head.

"She's goi-going to be o-kay," You whispered, squeezing Gray's hand. He nodded at you and you could feel his tear hit your arm. "I lo-love you," You whispered, eyes shutting beyond your control.

"I love you too," He whispered. And that was the last thing you heard before you heart gave out on you.

"Ready to go?" Grayson asked the week–old baby in his arms. She was asleep, but he still talked to her. Who else was he supposed to talk to? "Let's go, angel," He whispered as he carried her to the car.

"Are you gonna sit in the back?" Ethan asked as Grayson and his daughter approached the car. Grayson nodded, heading towards the back. He put her in the car seat he'd installed a week before she was born, just in case. He kissed her head before walking around the car to sit next to her.

He watched her sleep and warned Ethan not to drive too fast. She could wake up. Grayson never thought he'd be taking his daughter home by himself. Without his wife. The thought of you brought him to tears. He just- he couldn't process that you were gone. It just felt as if he was going back home to you.

"You okay?" Grayson asked her when she woke up on the way there. The little baby began to cry. Grayson sighed and began to take her out of the car seat.

"Gray, that's not-" Ethan began before Grayson cut him off.

"I'd protect her with my life," He said. Pulling his little princess into his lap. She looked up at him as she stopped crying and he gently wiped her tears with his fingers.

Ethan watched his brother through the mirror, tears in his own eyes. He'd just lost his own sister in law. As much as he'd joked about taking care of his niece, he never thought it was going to be like this.

"We're here," Ethan said as he pulled into their driveway. He got out to open the door for his brother. Gray carefully stepped out of the car, cradling the baby in his arm.

"We're home angel," He whispered as he carried her into the house. "Let's go to our room?" He asked as he carried her into the direction of his and y/n's room. He felt another tear fall down his cheek as he saw the stain of the hot chocolate still visible on the tile from Ethan's terrible cleaning job.

"Gray?" Ethan whispered as Grayson sat on the bed with his daughter sleeping comfortably in his arms.

"Hm?" He asked as he looked down at his daughter, staying as calm as he could, for her sake.

"You never named her," Ethan whispered. Grayson looked up at him. "Did you and y/n have a name picked out?" Ethan asked. Memories filled Grayson's' mind of y/n and him fighting over the name. But he wasn't going to pick either of them.

"I have another one," Grayson whispered as he rocked the baby in his arms. Ethan raised his eyebrows.

"Are we doing it right now?" Ethan asked, walking closer to his brother and niece. Grayson looked down at his little princess and smiled at her.

"(Y/N)" He whispered.
