You laughed as the first bell rang. You and your friend were in class early. You sat back in your seat as the class filed in slowly.
"It was so stupid, I don't even know why I started watching it-" Your friend was cut off as Ethan walked into your class. You frowned. "He's not in this class," Your friend said. You nodded as Ethan walked over to your seat.
"Hey, E," You said with a smile. His hood was pulled up and he looked down at you, palms flat on your desk. "Hey," You said again, leaning to look up at him. His eyes were red and puffy. You frowned. "Everything okay?" You asked. He shook his head and closed his eyes tight as if to stop himself from crying.
You stood up and gave your confused friend a smile before taking Ethan's hand. His eyes shot up to look at you and you slipped out of your seat. "I'll be back," You said to your friend. She nodded and you left the class. You still had a few minutes before class started.
You led him down the hall, now starting to clear up as students made their way to class. Pulling him into a stairwell exit, you looked up at him. "What happened?" You asked. He swallowed and you watched his adam's apple move. You winced as he looked down at you, eyelashes wet, eyes bright red in the light. "Ethan."
"I love you," He whispered. You gave him a small smile. "I fucking love you."
"I love you too, Ethan," You whispered back. He stared at you and you looked at him, waiting for him to continue. "Why'd you say that?" You asked.
"I'm not allowed to tell you I love you?" He asked, voice all choked up, like he was going to collapse. You shook your head and squeezed his hand that you were still holding. "I just wanted to tell you," He said.
You looked up at him and he looked right back at you. You gave him a small smile and suddenly his other hand came up to your face, pulling you into a kiss. You gasped as he pulled away, letting go of you.
"E-"
"I'm sorry," He whispered. You looked up at him and the tears fell down now, unable to keep them in. "I fucked up, I know, I'm sorry-" The bell cut him off. He looked at you. You could wait a couple of minutes.
"What happened?" You asked again, trying to wash what he'd just done out of your head. He looked at you, looking away. "Ethan."
"Last spring, last spring, I fucked it all up, y/n, I shouldn't have ghosted you like that, that was fucked up," He whispered.
"That was almost a year ago, Ethan, I'm over it," You said honestly. He shook his head looking away.
"No I really thought- thought if I stopped talking to you, it'd let you get over me or some shit, that was so fucked up," He said to himself. You sighed.
"It's okay, Ethan, it really is," You whispered. You take his face in your hands, just like he'd done yours and force him to look at you. "It's okay."
"No, it isn't," He whispered. "Now I can't fucking- fucking stop thinking about it0 you [robabyle spent the whole summer worrying if I was okay or not and I was just, fuck man-"
"No, look, hey," You whispered. "It's okay, Ethan, try to leave it in the past," You whispered. He shook his head fast and you could see the tears coming back. "Okay, E look at me," You whispered.
"I'm sorry- y/n-y/n," He whispered, breathing fast.
"Look at me, okay, are you going to class?" you asked. He looked at you and you took it as a no. "Okay, I have to go, my stuff's there, okay, but I'll meet you at Slider's next period okay?" You asked. He frowned.
