TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of a shooting :((

(y/n pov)

"So five tomorrow?" You nodded and smiled. "Cool, see you?"

"Uh- where?" you asked quietly. He thought for a second.

"Uh fuck, where do you wanna go?" You shrugged. You were just happy to even get to go out with Grayson. "You know the restaurant down by the library?" You nodded.

"I think so." He smiled.

"Cool, at five?" You nodded and he gave you a smile before turning off down the hall. You watched him leave before turning back into your locker with a smile on your face.

You were going on a date with Grayson Dolan.

You'd gotten ready, the next night, in what you thought was a pretty dress and you'd done something different with your hair. The restaurant was only a twenty-minute walk from your house and so you'd walked, hoping Gray'd give you a ride home.

You waited a few minutes, but soon realized he was late. So you'd asked for a table for two, and got yourself seated. You turned the waiter down, telling him you were waiting for someone, a number of times.

An hour passed.

And then two.

And Grayson never showed up.

Tears in your eyes, you were about to get up. He stood you up. Sure, he's had plenty of girlfriends, plenty of random flings, but you didn't think he was like this. An asshole. He was so nice, to everyone. Why did he stand you up?

You were just grabbing your purse and apologizing to the waitress that had come by when you heard gunshots. Your eyes widened as you looked around. People were running out of the restaurant. Screams, things shattering, breaking.

You were lucky to make it out safe. Many didn't. The whole night was a blur and left you shaking for days. And though you'd never witnessed what had happened directly, it would leave you shaking for days, months, maybe even years.

You didn't leave your house after. You couldn't. You physically couldn't. Your parents had had a therapist come to see and talk to you once a week, that helped a lot. She was lovely, you looked forward to seeing her.

But you didn't go back to school. You switched to an online version of the courses you'd been taking. You wished you could- but you literally couldn't. The thought of going outside terrified you, now. And to make matters worse? You'd have to see Grayson.

He stood you up. If he hadn't stood you up, you would've eaten and left by the time that all happened. You wouldn't have had to witness something as traumatic as a shooting if it weren't for him. And you hated him for that.

You only saw him a week or so after it happened. You'd been sitting at your windowsill reading when you'd looked out. He was on his skateboard, staring up at you. Your mouth fell a little as he waved at you.

And you shut your blinds.

Little did you know, Gray'd been coming by every day, on his skateboard. He'd asked your mom a few times how you were if he knocked, but she'd told him that you didn't want to see you anymore.

He'd forgotten. He didn't mean to stand you up- though that was what happened. The next afternoon, some friends had mentioned a party and- free alcohol? He was down. Your date had slipped his mind, and he'd gone. He didn't even remember until he woke up hungover the next morning.

So he'd come to see you are your house, but your mother wouldn't let you in. He decided he'd see you at school on Monday.

You never came.
