"And yeah, I really like you." You smiled, watching him hold up the bouquet of flowers he'd bought. "I have for a really long time, and-"
"Grayson," Kenzie laughed. "What the fuck?" He gave her a smile and shrugged, scratching the back of his head.
He held the flowers closer to her. "I don't know, I'm asking you out-"
"You want me to go out with you?" Your face fell from the tree you were hiding behind. Gray tried to look around at you without her saying. "God, Grayson."
"Wh-what?"
"Nothing- is this like a prank or something?" She looked around. "Are you filming- oh my go-"
"No, I'm," he frowned, confused. "Asking you to go on a date with me?" She raised an eyebrow at him.
"Grayson," she put a hand on his forearm. "I don't want to date you." His face fell harder if that was even possible.
"Oh."
"How cute," she laughed. "You really like me?" He nodded slowly and you wished he hadn't.
"Yeah, I thought- you liked me too?" She laughed again.
"Gray, people hook up all the time," she said with a na eye roll. She used her sunglasses to push her hair back and rested them atop her head. "It doesn't mean I like you."
"Oh."
"Whatever, Grayson, I'll see you?" He nodded slowly and she laughed and walked back to her car, pulling out her phone, probably to tell someone how much of a fucking moron he was.
He stood, watching her leave the park he'd asked her to meet her at. Once she'd driven away he turned to you, flowers falling from his hands. "Oh, Gray," you whispered, walking over, arms out.
"What the fuck?" he whispered as you hugged him. He didn't even wrap his arms around you as he leaned into you.
"It's okay," you whispered, rubbing his back. "There are other girls." You rubbed his back as he began to shudder a little, and you figured he was crying. "Grayson."
"Fuck, man." You pulled away from him and he rubbed at his eyes as you picked up the flowers. "What do I do with those?" he asked, pointing to the roses. You smiled.
"I'll keep them," you said, taking a sniff. He chuckled a little, letting out a sigh. "It's okay, Gray, you can-"
"I really like her." You pouted. "Fuck, this is all your fault," he said, walking back to his car, you right behind him. You laughed.
"Mine?"
"Yes!" You got into the passenger side and he sighed, sitting in the driver's seat. He rubbed his face with his hands. "You thought this would be a good idea."
"I thought you should make your move," you said, putting your seatbelt on. He leaned his head down on the steering wheel. "Come on, Gray, let's go eat some ice cream and get over-"
"I'm done with the female kind." You laughed. "You guys are so fucking confusing."
"Us?" you asked. "Talk about hypocrites." He smiled and shook his head, wiping his eyes as he drove.
"God, why does she have to be fricking pretty?" You smiled.
"It's okay." He sighed, starting the car.
