AN// so this one's not that  sad but i love it so much. it's based off of the song the truth untold by bts, and it's so beautiful and you should totally listen to it. even if you arent a fan of bts, it's literally amazing, just give it a chance. this imagine's only loosely based off of it, but it was definitely inspired by it, so yeah. and also my friendo helped me out too, just to give him credit :)

that song was also based off a story or something called 'la città di smeraldo' . i looked it up and this is what genius says the story's about:

"It is about a man that shuts himself inside of his castle because of his 'ugly face' and he received a lot of hate and bullying throughout his childhood which caused him to close himself off from the outside world. His only happiness is to plant and tend to his garden. One day, he sees a woman climbing into his garden to steal his flowers, and is furious. He watches and waits for the women to appear again. He follows the woman to see what she would do with his flowers and sees that she is selling them to make a living. He realizes that he has been anticipating her appearance and it has made his days happier. So he decides to make her a flower that doesn't exist so she can sell it for an expensive price because he knows she will not love his grotesque face. After many failed attempts, he finally makes the flower and fills his garden with it. He waits for her to return but she never does, eventually, he finds that she has died. If he had shown her his face, then he could have helped her before she died."

"Would you like to buy cookies?" the little girl asked. E opened the door just a crack to see her and there were a few girls outside the door. He grunted and opened the door a little more. He headed back in as they squealed to get his wallet.

He sighed looked down at her for the price. She didn't say anything. "Five dollars a box." He looked up at you as you spoke. You gave him a smile and he stared for a moment.

"I'll take two," he said quietly, voice hoarse. The same one who'd asked handed him a box and another one reached behind into her wagon for one. "Thanks."

"They're chocolate chip!" He nodded and they hopped off of his front porch. "I hope you like them, mister!"

"Thanks," he said again. You gave him a wave.

"Thank you, sir," you said with a smile. He didn't say anything as he watched you lead the girls down the stairs. You turned back to give him another smile, but he shut the door quickly.

The next week, same time, you were afraid to approach his door again. The girls ran right up, excited to sell more cookies. "Careful, girls," you sighed. He didn't seem rude, but it worried you a little that he might jus-

"Cookies?" Natasha asked, holding up a box. "Would you like to buy our cookies- we have coconut!"

Ethan looked down at her. Recognizing the little girl, he looked up for you. You gave him a small smile.

"Still five dollars a box," you said cheerfully. He nodded.

"Yeah," he grumbled, heading in for his wallet. He handed Natasha twenty dollars this time.

"Woah!" He didn't say anything as they tried to figure out how many boxes to give him.

"Um- twenty, divided by five, girls," you prompted. Miranda thought for a moment. "How many times does five go into twenty?"

"Four?" You nodded and Ethan took the four boxes. "Thank you!" She said to him. He didn't say anything as they waved at him.

You met his eye but he didn't say anything. You gave him a wave before leading your group of girls back down the steps and onto the sidewalk.
