Rolling her eyes, Mayalika shoved her buzzing phone behind a cushion on her sofa. Ralph raised his head in curiosity from his position on the rug before her - his head quirked to the side. She shook her head at the puppy; smiling softly as she watched him resume his curled up position.
It had been a whole twelve hours since the argument between her and Omari. Twelve hours since Omari had first begun to spam her with messages.
Maya reached down, running her hand over the soft pelt of Ralphs back.
She smiled softly to herself, "You're the only man I need in my life," She muttered to the oblivious pup.
Her eyes wandered back to the TV where Night School was playing on Netflix. She couldn't help the scoff that left her lips as she felt her phone buzz noisily from it's hidden location. She snatched the controls exiting the movie - the last time she had watched it had been with Omari.
He seemed to permeate her mind even when she was pissed at him.
A sharp knock at her front door made Ralph and Maya startle. Ralph jumped up and sprinted to the door - his loud barks echoing in the small corridor. Groaning, she slid from her comfortable nest on the couch and stumbled towards the front door where Ralph hopped excitedly around.
"Move Ralphie." She hissed, picking up the hyperactive pup and moving him behind her.
"Who is it?" She called out, sticking out her leg to keep the French Bulldog at bay.
Silence greeted her as she listened with her ear to the door for a response. Maya glanced down to see Ralph was staring up at her in anticipation.
"False alarm Ralphie. It was probably a knock and run." She stated, moving to return to her cosy home on the couch. Just as Mayalika took a step in the direction of her living room another knock was heard.
Maya raised her eyebrow in confusion. She unlocked the door, yanking it open to see Omari standing on her doorstep. Maya suddenly felt self-conscious as she stood in front of Omari in one of his shirts he had left over at her house with stained joggers.
"What King." She mumbled irritant.
Omari ran a hand over his waves as he glanced at the floor. He chose to ignore the fact that she had called him King for the simple fact that he had bigger problems to deal with. One being their relationship. His eyes couldn't help but wander over her frame as he unconsciously bit his lip. Even when she wasn't trying she always managed to look sexy in his eyes.
"Look can we talk?" He inquired, "Inside?"
Maya furrowed her brows; contemplating for a second before she stepped aside so that he could enter. He smiled gratefully as he let her lead her into the kitchen where she began to make herself a drink.
"Ten minutes, King." She stated.
Omari ran a hand over his waves, "Mayalika I-"
Maya turned around, "You what King? You forgot that you were engaged or matter of fact that you had a whole kid out there!" she stressed.
"Imma let that slide since you angry." Omari stated, "Maya I'm not engaged. Sure me and Quinn have...history but we never got married and no her daughter isn't mine. I took a DNA test." he said calmly.
Maya nodded, pursing her lips in thought. A pregnant pause stretched as the two stared at anything but each other. Finally, Mayalika placed her hands on the countertop, staring into Omari's eyes as her lips fell into a frown.
"This has gotta stop." Maya whispered, "We can't keep on having fight's over every single thing. If we're gonna have a relationship we need to be open." she said.
Maya walked around the island so that she was standing in front of Omari.
Maya took a breath before she began to speak, "I need to know now if you're hiding anything else, because if I find out about anything else Omari, Oh god help me!" she stared into his eyes.
Omari thought about his drug bussiness, a possible child, his past and his power over the legal system.
"No." He stated, wrapping his arms around Maya's waist, "There's nothing else."
