Emma's pov
A whole week has passed since that day when Connor, Brady and I first practised together. A week since I found out I will be excelled. We have stuck to the schedule like glue. Connor and Brad have been practicing together when they weren't recording, both of them practicing with me individually and we have all played together around five times now. That comment Trissy made about us having it nailed within a week tops is practically true. We have finished making a lot of the stupid mistakes that we were making, but it is not perfect, there is always room for improvement somewhere.
Today I believe is my day to practice with Con in the afternoon and Brady this evening.
I have had double music at college but I am nearly home because that was my only lesson for today. Just like normal Ms Holmes allowed us time to practice because the class' performances are coming up as well as my final performance. I showed Ms Holmes how I am doing so far and she gave me a few pointers on how to improve so hopefully I can apply the tips she gave me today and everything will sound better.
As I walk down my road from the bus stop I get more excited. Not only do I love practicing but I am getting quite close to Connor too. We are getting to know each other more and more.
Yesterday the whole band was around our house. There was a space next to James and Connor, but they were sitting on separate chairs. Normally I would have gone to James and sat next to him but I decided to sit next to Con instead. James and Tristan joked around about it and Brady tensed being the protective big brother that he is. But truth be told I am starting to fall for the messy haired guy. The more I get to know him the more I like him. Is that bad? Falling for my brother's band mate? I don't know.
I throw the debate out of my head as I open the front door to our house. Dad should be at work, but mum is in so I don't have to bother fiddling with keys. Thank goodness.
"Mum I'm home," I call as I put my coat away in the small coat cupboard by the front door. I jump as I turn round to see Connor standing behind me with a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
"I am not that scary am I?" He laughs. God that laugh.
"No, I just didn't see you and. Wow, you scared me." I laugh. "How did you?" I trail off not wanting to sound rude but still feeling curious as to how he got in.
"Your mum let me in about five minutes ago. I have been helping her make dinner and she invited me to stay. We are having lasagne. Is that alright?"
"Of course why wouldn't it be?" I smile he smiles back. "I am just going to run and put my bag upstairs and get the music then I'll be right down."
"I will get set up in the basement then." We split off in our own direction. I need to put my confused teenage hormones aside and focus on the music now not Connor staying for dinner or Connor being here in general.
I sling my bag on the floor against a wall and grab my music book before leaping down the stairs, running to the basement door then walking down those stairs in a more civilised manner.
"Here's your guitar." Con hands me my Martin Smith acoustic guitar. This plain guitar was the first guitar I have ever owned.
"Thanks. Shall we have a quick warm up first then practice?" He nods as we sit down. We both make sure our guitars are tuned before playing a few chords and notes to warm up and get our fingers used to moving.
"Em." I look up at Connor to see him already looking at me. "I. Err. Actually it doesn't matter I just remembered." Weird. I smile and nod and we stop warming up. I check if we are both ready before I start to play my melody. Connor joins in with the bass and we both sing the vocals. This time I don't focus on the song, instead my mind keeps asking questions as I wonder what Connor wanted or remembered.
