13. Taking the mick

Emma's pov

I am feeling a lot better this morning, I think all that sleep I had yesterday paid off. Brad had gone around to James' as have the other lads and have invited me to come over as I have nothing to do today but Brad told me to come later because they wanted some guy time to talk.

I look at my clock and decide to go join the lads because not only do I want to see them but they have had enough time for guy talk. I know these lads, the will gossip for about ten minutes then mess around for the rest of the time.

I grab my things and check my phone. No message from Brad so they must still be at James'. I go downstairs in search for dad because I know mum is busy today and I need a lift because I don't fancy walking to James' even though it is not that far.

"Dad. Brad and his band want me to go meet up with them so we can chill. Can you drop me off at James' please?" I ask in my innocent butter-wouldn't-melt voice. Yes, I am a bit of a daddy's girl but I don't care.

"Sure honey. Do you want to go now?"

"Please." I smile sweetly. Dad grabs his keys and walks towards the door with me following him.

We get in the car and dad drives towards James' house. The car ride is silent but comfortable. I message my brother telling him I am on my way but he doesn't reply so they are either caught up in games or his phone is on silent.

When we get to James' house I thank my dad and he drives back home. I knock on the door and James' mum opens the door.

"Hello, Emma I didn't know you were coming as well. The lads are in that room." I thank her and follow the voices.

"JAMES!" Everyone shouts. What's he done now? I laugh quietly to myself as I slip my shoes off.

"There is no need to shout." I hear him reply.

"We each called three times but you were in another universe." Tristan laughs. I giggle quietly to myself, imaging the lads talking to James while he is in a world of his own.

"What were you thinking about?" I hear Connor quiz him. I open the door but nobody notices me so I decide to wait and see how long it will take for one of them to notice me.

"Just things."

"Or someone." Ooh is James seeing someone? He would have told me though I thought we were close? Apparently not as close as I thought.

"Brad." He moans. Aww he doesn't want anyone to know but Brad obviously does.

"He likes Emma that's why he went off with you Con and that's why he started acting strange. He was going to make a move, but you started dating Emma." He what now? James likes me? As if I must have heard it wrong surely. I stare at James in complete shock trying to read him to see if what Brad said is true or not. He looks around embarrassed until his eyes land on me then he freezes.

I see Connor, Tristan and Brad follow his gaze while my main focus is glued on James.

"How much did you hear?" Con asks. My mouth opens and closes but nothing comes outs.

"Emma?"

"Enough," I whisper. "Is this some practical joke because this isn't funny."

"No it isn't I swear."

"Don't lie to me Bradley you read my diary now you are taking the mick out of me. All of you. Well, I am glad you find it funny."

"Read what?" James asks completely lost.

"You three aren't denying it." Connor, Tristan and my brother are the only ones who know about me liking James. Obviously Brad read my diary, I told Tris and I know Brad told Con.

Without another thought, I turned and ran. I ran out of the house and down the road. I can't believe they would take the mick out of me. I thought they were my friends. I thought Brad was going to support me!

This is just a short notice. I don't know if any of you reading this book were also reading my 1D fanfic 'In Love'. I am sorry, but I deleted it because I felt like it was going nowhere so I am going to finish this book and try and come up with a better storyline and try to write it again.
