Emma’s pov
For the past week James, Con, Trist, Brad, Zo, Jay and I have been working our butts off to raise some money so we can buy that house. When Zoey, Jayna and I haven’t been in college we have been doing fundraising activities and when the lads haven’t been in the studios recording their new album they have been raising money. We must be close to the total by now. I’m exhausted! We’ve done about three car washes, six concerts (sometimes we did two concerts in one day), three photo shoots and three meet and greets as well as selling some of our old stuff.
Today we are all meeting up at the studios to find out how much we have raised. Joe has been keeping log of all the money we have raised and he is totalling up the final lot today. The girls and I have college until two o’clock today so the lads are doing a final meet and greet for two hours and then they are going to the studios to work on their album. I have no idea how much of their album they have done but I have a feeling that they haven’t done a lot due to the fact that we have been so busy fundraising.
People around college have obviously found out about the girls and I having a dance group. We’ve had a few people asking to join the group, people pretending to be our friends and the obvious hate about being fame seekers and using The Vamps to become famous. Not that we have been listening to the hate though. As Jayna said a few days ago ‘they are probably giving us hate because they are jealous and they wish they were in our position’.
The bell rings and I run off to my class. Zo and Jay aren’t with me for this class and apparently we have a strict cover teacher – great. I walk into the classroom and slide into my seat pulling all my equipment out and getting ready to learn. Ms Stevens walks in and I sigh. Brilliant I have an evil teacher. She literally gives you a work sheet and says do the work and if you don’t understand it then she gets really stress and arsy with you. She is a stroppy annoying and evil teacher. I don’t know one person who likes her.
She logs onto the computer while explaining that she is covering us then she does the register and hands out three work sheets telling us to complete the work. Will she ever change and actually teach us? I carefully get my phone out under the desk and text Jayna and Zoey.
To: Jayna, Zoey
I HAVE MS STEVENS HELP ME
I make sure the phone is on silent before slipping it back into my pockets and starting on the work sheets. I cannot wait for this lesson to be over.
---
I am so glad that college has finished. I was literally counting down the seconds in the lesson where Ms Stevens was the teacher and I have to say that lesson dragged so much it felt like a week when it had only been fifteen minutes. Can you understand my pain? I had Mr Durkin after and he was lovely, as always, unfortunately his lessons always go so quickly.
Jayna and I meet up with Zoey and leave college. I am excited to hear how much we've raised but I am scared at the same time. What if we haven't raised enough?
"What bus do we need to get?"
"87 then 9 or 150 or 23 and 9 depends which comes first."
"Hopefully the 150." We laugh.
Brad's pov
All day all I have been thinking of is the final figures. How much have we raised? Will it be enough? Do we need to do more fundraising? I've had all sorts of questions and doubts running through my head.
The girls have been juggling college and fundraising while we have been juggling recording an album, organising a tour and fundraising. We have done about six concerts, five meet and greets, five photo shoots and three car washes. Sometimes we held more than one event on one day as well as fitting recording time in.
"It is two o'clock where are the girls?"
"Con they've only just finished college give them chance to get here."
"Just because you are all patient."
"Okay shall we focus again?" We all look at Joe who has his arms folded across his body. "As I was saying you have recorded nearly all of the songs. There is one left to do which we will do now. Then tomorrow we'll listen to all of the songs pick up on any faults or see if there is anything which you feel needs to be re-recorded. Happy?" We nod signalling that we understand. "Okay let's run through On the Floor and we will record it if you are comfortable." We get up and move into the recording booth. We start to play the song without the equipment being turn on.
Obviously there's Trist bashing away at him drums, Con on his bass, James and I on our guitars with me doing lead vocals and James and Connor being back up. I sway from side to side as I play and sing. I love music.
When the song is over we take a breath and look at Joe who gives us the good to go sign. We take our positions as the booth turns soundproof. The red light clicks on and we start singing and playing the song for the second time.
"And I will love you, if you let me tell me what I'm supposed to do. 'Cause there's no other place that I would rather be than here with you. Darling, I know you can't wait." I sing. I notice the door opens and I pray that it is my sister but instead Dean walks in. I carry on singing regardless. "And I will take you there if you let me take you. To places that you never been, never been before. And I love that dress you wear, but it's whatever. 'Cause I think that it would look much better." As I move onto the last part of the song the door to the studio opens and revealing the three people we have been waiting to see all day. Joe and Dean immediately slush them even though the booth is soundproof and their noise won't affect the recording. "And it looks much better on the floor, on the floor." I sing the final line. We stop playing the music and wait for the red light to blink off before putting our instruments and running out to Emma, Zoey and Jayna.
We engulf them all in a hug and laugh. We've all grown extremely close over the week due to all the time we've been spending together.
"Okay please sit down I am sure you all want to know the facts and figures." We rush to the seats but notice that there are only six seats so one of us won't be able to sit down. James pats his lap and I happily sit down and snuggled into him. The order we are sitting in is as follows: Jayna, Zoey (who is over her Brad crush), Brad, James with me on his lap, Connor and Tristan. Joe is standing in front of us with his notepad.
"Okay so for the house you have to make an offer in the region of £399, 950. Together in savings you had £319.52. This week you have raised £108564.12 altogether leaving you £108883.64 left to raise." We all groan.
"That is so much."
"It barely made a dent in the sum."
"That is going to take us so long to raise."
"Way too long."
"What else can we do we've worked so hard this week?"
"You can either repeat this week for three more weeks or you could wait, save up and use the money from the album and tour tickets." I guess we have a decision to make. How much do we want this house? How fast do we want to get it?
