~Justin’s point of view~

I don’t know how long it has been since I’ve been in Darielle’s apartment. One second I was treating her scratches and meeting her feline friend. The next thing I knew, we were both lying on her bed in her room with my back against the headboard and her snuggling into my chest. The soft sheets smothered over our body as we watched a movie on her laptop.

It was a good thing the apartment had free Wi-Fi. It had strong connection at that. We were watching this movie called, ‘Blended’. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were acting in the film. I didn’t think a person like Darielle would even watch a funny movie like this. I wasn’t really watching the movie because I was too busy admiring the beauty beside me. My left arm was wrapped protectively around her slim waist whilst my right arm was behind my head against the headboard. Since my arm was long, my hand was actually rested on the side of her thigh; feeling her soft skin.

She didn’t mind from where I sat. A sigh escaped through my lips as I wondered, ‘How did we end up here?’ One day I was being pushed around by the bullies in school, next I am now lying beside the most popular girl in school. I’m still not convinced that we deserved each other. I still had that dork and nerd personality in me. I don’t understand how she could even have feelings for me.

“I know what you’re thinking.” I snapped out from my thoughts when Darielle spoke. “What?” I asked. She lifted her head up from my chest to look at me. “You’re questioning yourself, again.” She told. I bit my lip and looked down. “You don’t know that.” I mumbled as I played with the hem of her hoodie. She sighed and sat up whilst turning her body around facing me. She was now in sitting with her legs tucked underneath her. Her hands were placed on her lap as she looked at me dead in the eye.

“You are the most admiring guy I’ve known. You respect others even when they don’t respect you. Ever since I noticed how you were and observed your character, I’ve fallen in love with you.” She said almost in a pleading tone as she reached out to hold my hand. “If anything, I’m the one who shouldn’t deserve you.” I snapped my head up to look at her. What?

I heard the sound of the kitten meowing from the edge of the bed but we ignored it. “You have such caring heart that I admire so much. It hurts whenever they physically hurt you.” She released my hand and placed both of hers onto her lap as she looked down. I took the time to see her in timid state. She resembled a little girl who wanted to tell her older sibling that she had cut on her finger. Cute.

“Most say that when I become someone’s partner, I would just be a weight that they have to drag because of my solemn demeanor.” She looked at me from the lashes of her eye. “It’s partly true. I’m a hard person to love.” She spoke as she turned to look out the window then turned to me with seriousness. “But when I love,” She said. “I love hard.”

A smile crept onto her lip as I saw glint of happiness in her eyes. “I’m glad that it’s you whom I love hard.” She admitted as she crawled over and straddled my lap while wrapping her arms around my neck. My arms responded by wrapping themselves around her waist. We both dug our heads in each other’s necks; enjoying the presence of the other.

~Omniscient’s point of you~

After Justin left Darielle’s apartment late at night, she laid in her bed alone. She had an unreadable expression but she was definitely thinking. A sigh escaped through her mouth before getting off the bed and walking into the living room. She stuffed her hands in the pockets of her hoodie as she stared out the window and looked down on the buildings. She watches as the lights from the cars that are moving up and down the roads.

She adjusted the hood that was over her head. “Meow.” She turned to look down to find that the kitten was a few centimeters away from where she stood. It was staring up at her with bright eyes as the lights from the buildings shone over them, creating shadows. Darielle turned her whole body and slowly squat down with her knees close together and placed both her sleeved covered palms on her knees.

The kitten didn’t move when she squatted. All it did was staring at her. Darielle did the same as they both made no sound. She made the first move by carefully reaching her hand out to pet the feline. It looked at her hand and slowly got alert as it slowly got up and backed away a bit.

That made Darielle stops her movements and pulled her arm back to her knees. She scoffed softly as a small smile expressed on her lips. Her eyes stared at the kitten in adoration. “You know,” She spoke. “You remind me of him.” The kitten lifted its head up to her and sat back down on the floor. “He was afraid when I talk to him, mostly confused.”

“I could understand why.” She sighed. “I wasn’t only—what they call—hottest but I was also feared.” She sat cross-legged. “I used that advantage for a reason though.” The kitten licked its paw and rubbed it over its ear to clean it. “I didn’t like being surrounded by people who have greedy needs.”

She smiled at the thought of Justin popping in her mind. “He’s so different. He would get really shy until his face was as red as a tomato which I’ve always loved to see.” She chuckled as she rested her elbow on her lap and placed her cheek on the palm of her hand. “Yet he was always full of surprises.” She smiled as she remembers the moments they had. “Meow.”

Darielle turned her head towards the kitten. She stood up straight as she watched the kitten cautiously walk over to her. It was finally on her lap staring up at her. “Meow.” It said before rubbing its head against her hand before looking up at her again. A small smile crept upon her lips as she placed one hand on the back of the kitten while the fingers on the other hand caressed the top of the kitten’s head.

“Just like you, he also began to get closer to me.” A smile played on her lips.

Just then, she heard the sounds of vibration from her phone hitting against the coffee table. She got up and carried the kitten along with her as she walked over there. She bent down a little and took the phone off the table. She unlocked it and saw that she received a text.

“Hmm?” She clicked on the message and read it.
