Naruto's POV

I sighed as I looked at the mountain of documents I need to sign. Man. When will this ever end?

I turned my swiveling chair around the festive village welcomed my sight. Colorful banners were hanged everywhere, food stalls were scattered around the village, and different colored lights lit up the area.

A small smile graced my lips as I watched the people celebrate all their hearts out.

Today is October 10th.

It has been exactly fifteen years since we won the great war.

And it's been exactly fifteen years since I lost her.

I sigh escaped my lips as the memory of her played inside my head. No matter how long it was, it still hurts knowing that she lost her life during that stupid war.

A lone tear escaped my eye as I stared at the clear night sky.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when the door to my office opened. I quickly wiped my tear before I turned my swiveling chair.

I saw Shikamaru standing in front of my desk. I couldn't pinpoint what he was feeling but I greeted him nonetheless. "Shikamaru? Anong ginagawa mo dito? You should be down there celebrating." I asked him with a fake enthusiasm.

He stared at me for a couple of minutes with an unreadable expression before he sighed. "Naruto, you know I don't celebrate this holiday." He answered. He gave me a sad smile. "She was my bestfriend too."

The fake lightness on my face vanished as I realized that Shikamaru shared the same feeling as I did. Plus he also lost his dad on this day. "I'm sorry." I muttered.

He smirked. "Don't be." He then rested his hand on his hip. "Now get out of here and let me finish that." He said.

I smiled at him, grateful for substituting for me for a while. "Salamat Shikamaru." I said as I stood up on the chair.

"Yeah, yeah." He said as he dismissingly waved his hand.

I hanged my haori on the rack before I went out of the office, not without sparing one final glance to Shikamaru.

I saw him looking at the clear night sky with a serene expression.

I closed the door before I made my way outside the tower.

Different kinds of festivities greeted me. The village looked alive more than ever. Nee-chan would've loved it.

As I made my way towards the Yamanaka flower shop, people never failed to greet me as I passed through them. Nee-chan would've been ecstatic during the day I was renowned as the new Hokage.

Once I opened the flower shop, a bell made a noise, making Sai and Ino turned their heads towards my direction. They smiled at the sight of me. "Naruto!" Ino greeted.

"Ino! Sai! Kamusta?" I asked, striking up a friendly conversation.

"Heto, busy as usual." Ino answered as she put down the bucket of flowers on the counter.

"Andaming gustong bumili ng bulaklak ngayon." Sai muttered as he went back from computing the sales they had today.

"Well I don't blame them." I said before I looked around their shop. "Can I buy 15 white roses?" I asked them.

The moment I said that, their faces contorted into understanding. Sai got up from his seat. "I'll get it for you." He said as he went to the back of the shop to get the roses.

Ino leaned on the counter as she gave me a sad smile. "I still miss her." She said to me as tears build up behind her eyes.

A sad smile appeared on my lips as well as I prevented my eyes from watering. "I still do too."
