The glee club looked at Mr. Shue in stupefied awe.
He gave them a flat look. "Guys, I'm serious."
"No, you're not." Santana didn't believe him.
"I am so."
"But-...?" Tina couldn't wrap her mind around it.
"Yes?"
"No way!" Puck knew it was too good to be true.
"Guys! I'm serious!" Mr. Shue wondered how close-minded he'd been in the past for them to react this way. "I'm letting you choose who's soloist at Sectionals."
Rachel feared the worst. She knew being unpopular would get her into trouble one day. "Mr. Shue, please reconsider!"
"No, Rachel. We've done things my way and we've gotten so close only to lose. I'm not putting you through that again. It's up to you guys from now on. Unless there's too much fighting.
As for song selection, I'm leaving that up to you as well. No more Journey. No more show-tunes. I promise."
"Don't Stop Believing is still our song." Mercedes knew how hard this was on the curly headed man. "We're still underdogs fighting to be recognized."
"But thank you for listening." Marcy made serious eye contact with her faculty advisor.
He smiled. It felt good to listen.
