Marcy sang Riley awake and kissed her cheeks. "Happy birthday, baby."
The now one year old peeled her eyes open and yawned.
Marcy jostled her before going to a chair to breastfeed her. She sang lowly, trying not to wake the twins (the kids had to share a room).
Riley smiled around her mother's nipple. She didn't understand what today was but she knew how happy she was.

"Happy birthday, Rye!" The party yelled.
Riley clapped her hands happily.
Mal kissed her cheek. "Do you like it?"
Riley hugged him, not really understanding what was going on but knowing it was for her.
Mal took her to where the other staff's children were playing in front of a stage and set her down.
She began to cry so he sat down and pulled her onto his lap. Five minutes later, the curtains parted and four men in brightly but different colored shirts began singing and dancing.
Riley began screaming happily.
W.W.W.
Marcy set the wick on the one candle ablaze. She led everyone in singing the Happy Birthday song and set the deep dish pizza close to her youngest daughter.
"Blow out the candle." Mal urged.
Riley blinked at him like really?.
"Blow, Rye!" Mally showed her how.
Riley liked what he was doing and imitated him.
Her candle remained stubbornly lit though so Mal stood above her and blew.
The party clapped and Marcy began cutting into the pie.

"Can you say thank you?" Marcy tickled Riley on Mal's lap.
The baby laughed.
"Thank you, Stan." Marcy smiled at the stoic man. "Who's next?"
"Mommy, I wanna go!" Mickey yelled.
"Okay. Get your present."
Mickey picked out a purple gift and brought it to her little sister. "Here you go. Happy birthday, Rye."
Marcy opened it and took out a necklace. It was half a heart that said lil sis. Marcy teared up. "Aww!"
Mickey rubbed her mother's back. "No cry, Mommy."
Marcy picked her up and hugged her tightly. "You are such a good big sister. She's going to love you forever and ever."
Mickey smiled warmly and hugged her mom back as she peered at her baby sister, who was reaching out for her. She'd always love her, too.
