Maddie squirmed as Marcy fought to put curls in her lightly wavy hair but tried not to get burnt. "Is it done yet?!"
"Calm down." Marcy spoke low as she finished with the last curl. She set aside the curling iron and unplugged it before getting a set of pearl, diamond and Alexandrite hair combs for the newly turned twelve year old.
Maddie could feel Marcy sliding the combs in but didn't know the style. She tried to be still.
Marcy slid the combs in a straight line on either side of Maddie's head so it'd be a type of Mohawk. It looked really cute. "Now I'm done."
Maddie turned to view herself in Marcy's vanity mirror. "Whoa!"
"Want me to do your makeup?" As a twelve year old, Maddie was now allowed to wear makeup recreationally.
Maddie nodded.
Marcy primed her face then gave her a sparkling sun-kissed glow before doing her eyelids up in purple and a smokey white, her lashes in black and black eyeliner.
She gave her a dark plum lipgloss and the bare minimum of blush. She shaped the preteen's eyebrows then combed them to make them lie flat.
"Put on your cap and gown."
"I don't want to mess up my hair." Maddie pouted.
"Put that cap on!" Marcy used a baby voice.
Maddie giggled before putting on her graduation gear over her violet dress.
"Come on. We've got to get to the church." Marcy had picked up Maddie after-school to bond and fix her up for her sixth grade graduation. She was also taking her to the church where the ceremony would be held.
The two left the room and Marcy collected everyone to put on their shoes so they could leave. Having two graduations in as many days was stretching them thin but they could do it.

Maddie walked to her family, who all hugged her. "Congratulations, Maddie!"
"Thank you!" Maddie beamed as they hugged her and kissed her.
"Are you leaving, too?" Mally was ready to cry.
"I'm not going anywhere, baby." She picked him up and put him on her hip.
"Yay!" He threw his arms around her and kissed her neck.
Christina cooed. "My baby is so cute!"
"Thank you!"
The adults laughed.
