"I don't wanna." Yoongi whined, hugging his arms around his chest. He was only wearing swimming trunks, just like Jimin, who had spent the last ten minutes trying to persuade him that it wasn't as bad as he thought it was.

Yoongi was sure it was just as bad. Swimming in a pool with Jimin was one thing. The beach, with the open ocean right there was an entirely different matter. There was nothing that wasn't bad about it. Maybe aside from the fact that he had Jimin there to keep him alive, but that was about everything positive about this situation.

"Come on. It's not as bad as you think. I'm right here next to you. The water isn't dangerous. Look." Jimin took another step back into the waves. They only reached up to his ankles but Yoongi really didn't feel the urge to get in touch with them.

"I don't want to. What if I slip and drown?"

Jimin raised a sceptical eyebrow. "Uh huh sure, that's gonna happen."

"Who knows." Yoongi pouted, glancing around. There were people everywhere and that made him feel even more on edge. What if someone was to push him or push him underwater just for fun?

"Yoongi." Jimin sighed, taking a step forward and interlinking their hands again before trying to get a glance at Yoongi's face. "The ocean is my home. I want to share what a beautiful place it can be with you."

Yoongi let out a whine, childishly stomping the ground. "I know... it's just..." He looked like he was searching for the right words.

"You're scared. Because it's open water... and because you're with a siren." Jimin finished his sentence for him.

Yoongi shook his head. "No, it's not you. It's the water. I'm honestly more at ease with you here. Otherwise I wouldn't even be in those fucking ugly ass yellow swimming trunks." He gestured down.

Jimin snorted. "They are ugly."

"I know!" Yoongi exclaimed and Jimin giggled, tiptoeing to kiss him.

"Come on. I will hold your hands. You know I'll protect you. There is no way anything could happen to you with me around." Jimin promised and Yoongi nodded a bit hesitantly. "Sorry for being such a pain in the ass."

"Literally, maybe. Right now not really."

They took some baby steps towards the water. Yoongi clung onto Jimin's hands in an almost painful way, but the boy didn't say anything, simply smiling at Yoongi in a reassuring manner as the water started splashing against their legs.

Yoongi seemed to be avoiding looking down. He knew that this wasn't going to work like this. He felt like Yoongi was gonna start hyperventilating any second. Instead he stepped closer again, leaning against Yoongi's chest, his mouth right next to Yoongi's ear, before humming soothingly, sharing his own memories of water with Yoongi.

The feeling of shooting through it at a speed most boats couldn't muster. The feeling of water splashing against his legs when he had spent hours standing on the beach watching Yoongi, hidden in the shadows.

The freeing feeling of being in the middle of the ocean.

He could feel Yoongi relax against him, his hands losing their grip. And he could hear him exhale a bit shakingly, squeezing Jimin's hand in a reassuring way. "Thanks... I feel a bit better."

Jimin pulled back, smiling weakly. "Trust me. No one's going to hurt you."

Yoongi nodded tiredly. "I know."
