Ch//8 Feelings You Can't Hide

Sunlight shown brightly through my window. I've got to stop leaving the curtains open.

Obviously I woke up. Can't get any sleep these days.

I laughed to myself, remembering Brynn waking me up yesterday.

OMG!! Brynn!

I wish she never told me what I know now. I feel even worse than before.

My stupid brain just loves to know everything. So now! I have to go speak to Johnny. Cause that's gonna be easy.

Hint the sarcasm.

I don't even know where he would be. And I'm pretty sure it would be weird if I started asking around about him.

So, first things first. I'll go to his house.

"Where you headed lil sis?" Maddie said, sitting on the couch with Kalani.

"Shouldn't you two be at college or something?" I asked playfully, obviously knowing that it's summer and their out of school also.

"Shouldn't you be sucking faces with Johnny?" Kalani said. Maddie glared at her, and my emotion turned soft.

Kalani looked between us, obviously confused. "What?"

"Just, no. Okay?" Maddie said politely. Kalani mouthed an 'oh' "Did you guys breakup?"

"Yes. Now if you will excuse me; I have to be somewhere" I walked to the front door, twisting the knob when Maddie spoke again.

"You never told me where you're going" I turned my head and smiled. "I'm going over to see Johnny"

Smiles plastered on both their faces. They immediately started laughing.

I mentally rolled my eyes and walked out the door.

It doesn't make any sense. Maddie seems so happy. Like if our mother didn't just die two weeks ago.

I mean, sure; I'm happy for her. You should always be allowed to laugh, right? She deserves this.

There it was.

A long drive awaited.

His house stood before me. None of the decorations out of place, that were here before I left.

I stepped out my car after I parked swiftly near their mailbox.

I took my time walking to his door. Kinda not really wanting him to be home, but then again; I want the whole story.

I raised my hand, finally knocking on the door three times.

It didn't take but five seconds for someone to open the door. I raised my head from looking at the floor, but to my surprise; it wasn't Johnny.

"Ugh! What do you want?"

Now I kinda wish it was him.

"Uh, nice to see you too Lauren" she rolled her eyes, very plainly for me to see. "I'm not your friend Mackenzie. Now tell me what you want or get the hell away from my hou—"

"Woah woah woah! Lauren, who are you talking to?"

He appeared behind her. Looking sleep-ish. Probably just waking up or something.

His messy golden hair, complimented his emerald eyes. All he was wearing was plaid jogging pants and socks. He didn't even have to try and I'd still be falling for him.

"Oh.." he ran his fingers through his hair. "Kenz. I didn't know you were coming"

Yeah. Me either.

"Johnny, tell this hoe to leave"

I don't know what I did to her, or why she's acting this way, but it has got to stop.

"Shut the hell up Lauren. I'll deal with you later" he pointed behind him, near his living room. "Leave. Now." He said, gritted through his teeth.

She slumped away from the door and walked away. "Sorry Johnny..." she said softly as she reached him. He nodded and she kept on walking.

Johnny walked over to me, looking even better in the light. God! Why can't he just stop looking so damn hot!

"What's up Kenz?"

And there it is. My legs are trembling. Someone catch me, I think I'm going to faint. Him saying my name like that, just sounds so right; as always.

I need this to stop. I'm supposed to be avoiding him, and here I am, standing at his door step, falling for him all over again.

"Hey..John" I said softly.

Why was I so nervous?!! This doesn't make sense!

Johnny started looking concerned. "Hey, uh..are you okay? Your face is turning red"

Wow. Just great! Now my feelings are even showing on the outside. I'm turning into a tomato!!

"Yeah, I'm uh-" I cleared my throat. All of a sudden I couldn't speak correctly. "I'm fine"

He smiled and nodded.

I wish I could just kiss him right now. His abs are literally distracting me, and I think he knew that also once he started smirking and leaned up against the wall.

Snap out of it Kenz! He's bad for you! He's your curse! He's the reason your mother is dead!

And just like that. Feelings gone.

I could feel my face cooling down. "Johnny, can we talk?"
