Johnny's POV
The horrible ringing of an alarm started going off right in my ear.
Instantly reminded me of school, and waking up at six in the morning.
I saw that it was my phone. Stupid thing. Waking me up.
I turned it over, squinting at the bright light. Is it just me, or does everyone forget to turn it down at night? Eh, whatever.
"Brynn?" I groaned.
"Why are you calling me? It's like seven am"
"Just come open your door"
"What?"
"Open. Your. Door."
I looked at my bedroom door not knowing what she was talking about.
"Your front door idiot" She said it as if she could see me staring at my door.
Oooooh. I feel so stupid.
"Right. Coming"
I hung up the phone and rolled off the bed.
"Shit!" These wood floors have got to go.
I pulled myself up and walked to my door. I heard the tv on from downstairs.
Why are my parents still up?
Once I reached the bottom of the stairs, they heard me drag my feet across the floor and turned their heads.
"Johnny? What are you doing up?" My Mom asked concerned. For once in her life.
I rubbed my eyes, due to the bright lights from the tv. "Brynn's here. Gotta go open the door"
My dad turned fully around on the couch. "Huh? What for? School is over, so you guys can't have a project"
"I don't dad. She just wants to talk"
And I was right. Because what I learned next, was petrifying.
"She knows!" Brynn said, frantically panicking around my room. I grabbed her shoulders to stop her pacing, once she got close enough to me. "Knows what? Who?"
Brynn stopped her heavy breathing and formed her lips into a line. "Kenzie. She knows about you and her mother" I rolled my eyes and stepped back.
"I know I know, I'm sorry. It just sort of came out" Brynn said, coming closer to me. I slumped onto my bed, placing my head in my hands.
"This is horrible" I said muffled into my hands.
"What?"
"Kenzie shouldn't know that I wanted to marry her!" I said louder, removing my hands from my face.
Brynn didn't looked shocked. "Well..." I creased my eyebrows as Brynn pierced her voice. "What, Brynn?" I said stern.
I stepped away from my bed and walked near her. "Uh...she doesn't actually know that" I stopped in my tracks.
"Then why the hell did you wake me up this early?! You had me scared, thinking she knew my intentions"
"Yeah..my bad" I sighed and sat on my window sill. "What, does she know..exactly?"
Brynn came and sat down next to me. "Really only that you went to talk to her mother"
"Wait, why are you telling me this again?"
"Well..I kind of told her to come talk to you because I didn't want to say anything" my eyes widened. "Why? Would you do that?!"
Brynn flinched at my sudden loudness. "Right. I'm sorry, for yelling"
"It wasn't my secret to tell" Brynn said finally taking her eyes off the floor. "It's definitely not my secret to tell her the other ones too"
Brynn's face filled with guilt. "I can't. I can't do that to her Johnny. You know that"
"Yeah, I know. But if the truth comes out—"
"It won't. Just keep your mouth shut. I don't care how in love with her you are, do not. Speak. A word of that to Mackenzie" she glared at me with her deep blue eyes.
Shit.
No. This isn't happening.
I hit myself in the head, breaking me out of those thoughts that should definitely not be going through my mind.
Brynn eyed me weirdly. "Are you..okay?" I folded my arms over my chest and tore my eyes away from hers. "Mhm" I tried focusing on anything else in the room.
"Okay then...well I should go" she got up and walked near the door.
"And next time, if you know I'm here; put a shirt on" she stared down my abs and smiled.
I looked down at myself then back up at her, watching her walk away.
There's definitely something wrong with me.
"Now tell me what you want or get the hell away from my hou—"
"Woah woah woah! Lauren, who are you talking to?"
I heard my sister talking, wondered why she would use that tone with someone.
I went behind her, trying to see who it was.
Kenzie.
"Oh.." I ran my fingers through my hair. "Kenz. I didn't know you were coming"
She looked amazing in the rising sun. Hazel eyes glowing back at mine. Her chocolate brown hair blowing in the wind. Something just made me want to run up and kiss her.
"Johnny, tell this hoe to leave"
I don't understand what Kenzie did, or if she even did something to my sister; but she is gonna have to stop speaking to her like that.
"Shut the hell up Lauren. I'll deal with you later" I pointed behind myself, near the living room. "Leave. Now." I said, through gritted teeth.
Lauren slumped away from the door and walked away. "Sorry Johnny..." she said softly as she reached me. I nodded and she kept on walking.
I walked over to Kenzie, getting a better look at her. God, I wish she was still mine.
"What's up Kenz?"
She looked down at the floor, then back up at me.
"Hey..John" She said softly.
Her face was turning beat red. There is no way, no way, she's blushing right now. That's the hottest thing I've seen her do since she got back.
But I didn't know why. I creased my eyebrows in confusion. "Hey, uh..are you okay? Your face is turning red"
Kenz started looking nervous. Was it me, giving her that affect?
"Yeah, I'm uh-" she cleared her throat. "I'm fine"
I smiled and nodded.
I noticed her gazing at my abs. I smirked and leaned against the wall.
"Johnny, can we talk?"
