The Beginning Of A Horrible Fate

Planet Earth, it's a miracle how one simple town on this entire planet can have so much trouble out of the rest of the World. Sure the World has its normal crisis moments, but this town takes the cake when it comes to having weird encounters and close calls. This town has been through a lot of strange things over the past years, from a Giant Red Eye blowing up in the sky, to the magical gross moss that just wanted to bloom on the hillside, to the mysterious watermelons that looked like a certain young boy, and then there was the invasion of several Homeworld Gems, not to mention when Yellow and Blue Diamond came to Earth to finish what they started ages ago. Yup, this town is pretty amazing and its future is looking bright. The wonderful town of Beach City, and things were turning out to be so peaceful now that the Crystal Gems were able to make peace with the Diamonds on Homeworld four years ago. With the help of the Diamonds, the crew was able to reverse the corruption on most of the Gems inside the Temple, thus starting the new era. The development of New Homeworld was finally completed after three long hard years of work. This allowed Gems from all over the Galaxy to come visit Earth to live new lives or learn about the reason why Pink Diamond found this wonderful planet sacred and went against her own kind to protect it with her life. Not only that, but with the help of some cool Gem Technology from Homeworld and the skills of a certain small Green Gem on Earth, the Crystal Gems were able to make a computer system that was connected to each Warp Pad on Earth, multiple motion sensor cameras, and even a satellite orbiting the planet every day that would locate and register any unknown Gem on the planet that was still corrupted and running loose. Everything was going great so far. There was no fighting, no arguing, no wars. Just joy and happiness. But even with all this happiness around, there was the feeling of something horrible going to happen. Not to mention that there were still hundreds maybe even thousands of corrupted Gems still roaming the Earth, and it's up to Steven and his friends to make sure that when one popped up and came out from hiding they would help them immediately.

The sun was rising over the horizon on a beautiful Saturday morning. The waves of the ocean gently hitting the shoreline, seagulls flying all around the boardwalk restaurants waiting for scraps of food to be dropped by the morning customers, and the citizens of Beach City starting their day normally as they would. But for someone in this peaceful town, their day would soon turnout to be one hell of a nightmare.

Resting on the far side of the beach town just below a large cliff side, inside the lovely home that was surrounded by the Temple, Steven Universe, a young adult at the age of 18, was laying in his bed, enjoying a good night's rest after a hard day of work yesterday. They had just recovered a new Gem that had been running loose in the Amazon Jungles. A place that the Crystal Gems had been to a few times before but only after the Diamond Blast. They were unaware that so many of their fallen comrades had been able to get to different Continents from the United States after the blast had happened. The recovery mission did take a toll on them seeing how dangerous the jungles were and what injuries their corrupted friend could have caused to tourist and civilian's.

The alarm on his phone sounded and woke him up. Slowly opening his eyes and letting out a groan of discomfort, Steven was feeling some sort of weird pain in his stomach that wasn't sitting well with him at all. He didn't feel sick but he felt a weakness come over his body that refused to let him get up and move around, not even to move to lay on his back or try to get into a more comfortable position to ease this pain. He let out another soft groan knowing that today he would be hanging out with his best friend, hopefully, one day his girlfriend, Connie Maheshwaren. Even though the two had just completed the recovery mission hours before, it was strictly business, no fun, no fooling around. The two of them deserved this break after all, with Steven constantly working on plans for Little Homeschool and welcoming all the new Gems that have been saved or came from space, even focusing on trying to make things better with a certain Gem that didn't want his help at all, and Connie, with her studies, still looking for the right college program, these two hardworking, young adults needed a well-deserved break. Especially since Pearl was the one that scheduled the break without the permission of the two. Steven gently slid a hand under his shirt and over his stomach, right on top of his diamond letting out another groan. "Maybe I'm just a little sick." He spoke softly to himself. "I'll relax a little more before Connie gets here. I'm sure she wouldn't mind." He spoke to himself more. And with this, the young adult closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
