In the middle of the night, the alarm for a mutant gem sounded off. Steven sat up in a startle looking out his glass door towards the communication hub. "Ugh, can't we just have one night of relaxation?" He groans rubbing his eyes.

Connie pulled the blankets over her head not wanting to go.

Steven leans over kissing Connie's forehead. "You take it easy, I'll be right back." He gets up from the bed and heads to the communication hub yawning. To his surprise, Pearl was already in there. "What do we have?"

"Well it's faint but the satellite scanner we have revolving around the planet as picked up on one near the mountain range just outside of town." Pearl pulls up the screen showing a large hit next to Beach City. "It looks like it's been living there for a while. There are police reports of people being attacked by a large weird looking animal. But this one is strange."

"What?" Steven asked walking over.

"This report was a few days ago. A family was camping in the mountains and we're being stalked by a weird person. Each family member was able to describe the individual being large in size, larger than any human. They had long hair almost touching the ground, the color being white..."

Steven gulps lightly. "You... You don't think it's her do you?"

"We haven't been able to locate Jasper in four years Steven. If it is her I highly doubt it. This could just be some sort of strange animal that is unknown. It could be the gem too." Pearl knelt down to Steven "Everything is going to be okay. In fact, why don't you and I go out and investigate on our own."

"Really? Won't Garnet get mad?" Steven looked a little unsure.

"Steven, you're a young adult now. You can make your own decisions. Plus we wouldn't be fighting, it's just a recon mission." Pearl smiled.

Steven thought about it but sighs. "Let's get the others. If Jasper really is out there she is going to try and kill me. And with the way that she was when she came out of corruption... She'll be really upset and strong. I don't think you and I will be able to handle her alone."

Pearl nods understanding Steven's concern. "You're right, we shouldn't be too careless. I'll be right back with Garnet and Amethyst." She stood up going to the Warp Pad to head back to the Temple doors.

The Warp Pad lights back up. Steven looked over seeing his friends. "Give me a second to get changed."

"Couldn't this have waited until the morning?" Amethyst whines showing that she was rudely awakened from her sleep.

"You know very well that we can't leave a mutant gem out there, especially if they are terrorizing people that are just trying to enjoy their lives. If you're that tired then why don't you stay here with Connie." Steven smirked walking towards the exit.

"Really?!" Amethyst looked excited.

"No, you're not going to stay here. This is a group effort." Garnet sighs folding her arms.

Steven chuckled lightly as he walked back down to his room. He made sure Connie was still asleep before he changed out of his pajamas. His arm was still causing him a lot of pain which was strange. "Geez, why aren't my healing powers making this injury go away?" He licked his hand and watched the magic sparkle around his spit before he pressed it roughly against his wound letting out a grunt of pain. His wound glows lightly before it slowly but completely healed up. With a smile on his face, Steven moved his arm around freely from the sling. "There we go." He pulled on his favorite pink jacket as he runs up the stairs back to the other. "Okay, let's get into the Dondai."
