Mrs. Maheswaran leads the group down the hallway towards Steven's recovery room. She had a frown on her face the whole time because she didn't want her daughter and everyone in the group to see this. Stopping in front of the door, she turned to the group one last time. "Are you sure all of you want to see this? If your reactions are going to be loud and out of control then I can't allow you to go inside. He needs to stay asleep to relieve as much pain as possible."
Greg looked at Pearl knowing she would possibly be the loudest one out of everyone here. "I think we'll be okay, right Pearl?" He asked.
Pearl was shaking lightly as she clenched her hands tighter around Garnet's arm. "I'll be fine." She spoke quickly through her sobs.
Mrs. Maheswaran let out a sigh as she opened up the door to Steven's recovery room. She peaked inside of a moment before signaling everyone to keep their voices down. "He should be asleep still. I gave him a strong pain killer to ease all of the pain he was in... To think that such a young body could go through something this traumatizing." She stepped to the side. "I hate repeating myself but I must say again, keep your voices down." She looked back at everyone opening the door completely to let them in.
Greg leads everyone into the room. He was now holding Connie's hand to comfort her just as Amethyst was before the small Gem let go. As the group filled the room the only thing stopping them from seeing Steven was the curtains.
Connie gulps lightly as she pulled the curtain back. She instantly came to tears and covered her mouth to keep herself from crying any louder than she already was when she saw her friend laying in the bed unconscious with all sorts of wires and machines surrounding him, attached to him, in him.
Pearl covered her mouth and yells into it. "Steven!!"
Greg frowns feeling a wave of sadness and despair come over him seeing his son like this. He turned to Mrs. Maheswaran. "Are you sure there was nothing that you could find wrong with him? This looks pretty serious for something that can't be found."
"Like I said before, all of his tests came back negative. There was nothing abnormal... There just wasn't anything to find. And in all my years of medical services I have never seen anything like this. This has to be something that isn't human related but related to your Gem stuff." Mrs. Maheswaran sighs.
"What does that mean exactly? You think this is our fault?!" Amethyst got defensive.
"Calm down, I'm sure she didn't mean anything bad by that. But we can't rule that out for being a reason. Steven is organic and a Diamond." Garnet puts a hand onto Amethyst's shoulder to keep her calm.
Amethyst folds her arms walking over to one of the machines. "What are these weird things on him supposed to be anyways?" She asked as she began to poke at one of the cords.
"Amethyst don't touch those please. They are very important, I'll explain them to you." Connie walked over to Steven's side and pointed at each individual thing. "These are IV lines, they allow medicine and water to go into his system faster to get him better or to relieve pain. This on his finger is a heart meter, you can look up on that monitor over there and see how fast his heart is going and what his oxygen levels are, this is an important factor for all doctors to know because an extremely slow heart rate or low oxygen levels could mean something is wrong, but a fast heart rate could be bad too. Right now he is perfect at 90 beats per minute with oxygen levels at 99%. On his face is an oxygen mask to help him breathe and keep his oxygen levels stable. And around his arm is a wrap to check his blood pressure... I'm not really sure what it does but it's important too. And these sticker things on his chest are... Um..." Connie paused for a moment looking at what the wires attached to the stickers were connected to. She frowns seeing a small defibrillator on the wall. "Well, they are to... Jumpstart his heart again."
