Steven could see that Connie was already in her room. He peaked in curiously seeing that she was reaching for something up high. "Need a hand?" He asked walking over.
"Yeah, if I'm going to be staying at your place for a while I'm going to need a suitcase instead of a duffle bag." Connie smiled softly pointing at the suitcase she wanted.
Steven chuckled. "Not a problem." His gem glows softly as his legs grow longer giving him the height he needed to easily grab the suitcase. "Here you go." He handed it over.
"Cheater." Connie giggled taking the case. "I forgot that you guys could shapeshift."
Steven laughs lightly at this. "How can you forget that I could shapeshift? Don't you remember my 14th birthday party?"
Connie sighs "Yes, I do. I can't believe you would try to change yourself forcefully like that. It was messed up Steven. You almost stayed a baby."
"Yeah, never gonna let that happen again. Trust me." Steven went over to Connie's dresser to help her pack. "My baby days were the worst with the gems around. Did you know they tried to kidnap me and get my gem off my body?"
"They did?!" Connie looked shocked. "I shouldn't be surprised about that. But to kidnap you as a baby?"
"I don't even think I was a year old yet when it happened. But they did realize their mistake and I was given back to my dad unharmed." Steven pulled out a couple of shirts. "Do you want these?"
Connie takes the shirts and kisses Steven's cheek. "I think I can manage to do this on my own. Besides, you have to get ready too." She gently pushed him to the door. "Go, your brother and Lapis are waiting."
"Yes, ma'am." Steven chuckled playfully as he went into the spare room to gather up his things. Only having a couple of pajama shirts and some T-shirts Steven was able to pack up his bag a lot quicker than he thought. He brought his things downstairs and set them by the door waiting for Connie.
"Steven, can I have a word with you for a moment?" Doug walked over and made a gesture to the Living Room.
"Sure." Steven followed him. "Is something wrong?"
"No, no. Just wanted to lay down a few things." Doug sat down. "This isn't the first time Connie has been away from home to be with you. But it will be her first time being away from home to live with you. I just want to make sure that whatever is going on with you doesn't affect her. I know my baby girl is strong on her own but with everything that has been going on with you it makes me concerned about this."
Steven stood in front of Doug listening to him. "I can assure you that nothing bad will happen to Connie. She's going to be just fine."
Doug narrowed his eyes a bit but his attention was brought to the thumping of the suitcase coming down the stairs.
"Connie?" Steven walked over to check on things. "You good?"
"Yeah, just slipped out of my hands." Connie looked a little embarrassed. "I'm just really excited for us to be taking this step together. Some say that relationships don't usually last if you're living with one another."
"Honey, you do know that's only if the two of you were on your own, right?" Doug asked.
"I guess that's true. Steven's house is always packed with people." Connie smiled.
Steven groans softly. "Yeah, especially now that Wyatt and Ven are living with me now. Any more people decided to show up I would just have my dad buy me a mansion."
Connie laughs at this. "You? In a mansion? You can barely do your laundry and take care of yourself nowadays. A mansion is not your style."
"Okay, you're probably right there. But that's only cause I haven't been able to do much on my own lately." Steven picked up the suitcase. "I'll carry this before you make a fool out of me." He sighed walking to the front door.
