The older Latina just stared forward with her phone still in her hand. What she heard had to be a mistake. It couldn't be true there was no way.

"Fredo stop playing with me" Lauren finally replies to her cousin.

"I'm not joking Lauren. I just received the courtesy call. The judge ruled in favor of his appeal. Lauren, Paul is free" Alfredo states

"How the fuck is this possible? He was given 25 plus years for what he did. Fredo you said he'd never get out" Lauren argues

"And I stand by that. For some reason the judge felt his good behavior in there these last five years was good enough and now he is out with parol. That isn't the only thing though" Alfredo says

"Fredo please no" Lauren pleads already fearing the worse

"He wants visitation with Karla and is trying to get joint custody" Alfredo adds

"He has no right. He gave those up. plus Camila is Karla's other parent. It's on my daughter's birth certificate" Lauren argues back.

"I know and I am fighting that. The judge hasn't given the okay for for that yet. If anything Family court will decide, but he won't get Karla. I promise you" Alfredo states

"What do we do then?" Lauren asks trying to calm down.

"Well first you need to tell Camila. Both of you need to show a united front. If the judge does consider this request, Family services will pay a visit. On my end I will try to convince the judge that Karla knows nothing about Paul. To her he never existed and the only parents she knows are you and Camila" Alfredo replies

"Alright, and Fredo thank you for letting me know" Lauren responds.

"No problem, hopefully this all gets resolved before the wedding" Alfredo says then hands up.

This was a complete nightmare. The one person who tainted her teenage years was now out of prison. HE had tried to kill her, her brother and even the woman she loves. It was ridiculous letting him free for good behavior and now he also wanted to take her daughter. No chance in hell will she let that happen.

"Camila we need to talk" Lauren says walking into the bedroom.

"What's wrong?" Camila asks, when she sees Lauren's worried expression

"Alfredo just called me" Lauren replies

"What happened with Alfredo?" Camila questions

"he-he just informed me that some how a judge ruled in favor of Paul's appeal for early release" Lauren answers and Camila freezes

"He-he's out of prison Camz. Its not just that. He also wants visitation and joint custody of Karla" Lauren adds making Camila snap

"HE WHAT?!" the younger Latina shouts making Lauren flinch

"Fredo says he's going to fight it so it doesn't happen . but Camz he's out and who knows what he will do" Lauren states

"I swear to you that Paul Martinez will not get anywhere near you or our daughter. If I have to I will kill him myself. I let him hurt you once when we were younger but I won't let it happen again. I will die first before he gets anywhere near Karla" Camila says with authority.

"I know but he is still Karla's Father" Lauren argues and with out even realizing, the door to their room opens and in front of then is said child.

"What about my father" Karla asks leaving both adults speechless.

"Sofi please talk to me or at least let me explain" the teenage boy pleads over the phone

"Explain what's Alexis? That you are leaving the country and never coming back" Sofi argues trying to hold back tears
"Sofi please let me explain" Alexis pleads again
"First off, I love you. I love you more than you'll ever know. Yes I got accepted into the Europe soccer program but I also got accepted early to the university of Orlando for their soccer team" Alexis states
"Hold on you got accepted to college for soccer?" Sofi asks

"Yes and if you hadn't ran away I could have told you that I'm not planning on going to Europe. I can't bare being far from you and a 6 hour time difference would kill me. At least in Orlando I can drive 3 or 4 hours and be back here with you and you can also visit me on weekends" Alex adds

"So you aren't leaving?" Sofi questions

"I am but only to move my stuff on campus then I'll be back for the rest of the summer" Alex answers

"Why didn't you start with Orlando earlier it would have saved us this argument" Sofi  states

"I'm sorry I'm an idiot. But do you forgive me" Alex asks

"You are an idiot but I love you" Sofi responda finally smiling into her phone

"I love you too preciosa" Alex replies

"Mommy what were you saying about my father?" Karla asks again
"Karla baby, what did you hear before you came in here?" Camila finally asks
"Uh you and mommy saying something about my dad" Karla responds
"Baby why are you asking about him?" Lauren questions trying to stay calm
"Uh well I always wanted to ask about a him because the other kids in school talk about their daddy's" Karla replies
"Honey are you not happy with two moms" Camila asks the 5 year old
"I love having two mommies. I just wanted to know about my daddy" Karla answers in a small voice
"Karla honey, your dad wasn't exactly a really nice man" Camila starts knowing that the child needed to know the truth
"What do you mean mama" Karla asks
"Well" Camila starts but Lauren steps in
"Karla your dad did some bad things that hurt me, mama and uncle Chris. Because he did that he had to go away" Lauren replies
"Where did he go" Karla questions
"He went to a place bad people go when they do bad things" Camila replies trying to keep it simple
"Is he ever coming back" Karla asks
"Well honey the thing is that we don't want him coming back because we don't know if he'll do bad things again. We want to keep everyone safe especially you" Camila responds picking up the little girl
"If he is still bad I don't want him here eithers mama" Karla says looking at both her mothers
