"Space...ship?"

"He meant apprenticeship, you bonehead."

It's our second day here in this strange school. Just like the usual first day of school, we are assigned to our respective classes. Thankfully, all of us are in the same class and so is Simon and Sierra.

And currently, we are having our lunch break here in the cafeteria.

This school never fails to amaze me. Apparently, they give off a certain amount of allowance to each student to pay for their needs. This allowance is given monthly and may vary based on our school performance. In easier words, we're getting paid to do better in school. How interesting...

This is an academy so obviously it receives its funding from the government. But none of us even know it exists. Furthermore, the facilities and equipment in this school is...well, how do I phrase this? Too advanced unlike other schools. Hell! They have a bloody hologram that flashes everywhere in the school instead of an intercom. That's only one of the many high-technology products I found within this school. Am I getting my point across? Where do they get the funds to create those? Who even invented those and why does the world doesn't recognize them yet? Do they have someone looking out for them within the government?

I got a lot of questions but I will be saving them for some other time. Right now, we have another topic at hand.

"That's right, apprenticeship." Simon said as he sips from his orange juice. "An arrangement where someone learns through acting out a position of an apprentice." Yeah, I know what the word mean.

"So you're telling us that we can shorten our stay in this school if we are able to get into this apprenticeship?" I asked.

"Well, yes." Sierra agreed as she took a tissue and wipe the corners of Simon's mouth. Did I mention that these two are a couple? Simon only just noticed the excess orange juice on the corners of his mouth but Sierra already wiped it off. She only laughed at her lover's clumsiness. From the my peripheral vision, I can see Yael whispering the words 'Sana all' underneath his breath.

"This school values school performance above all things. In here, your background doesn't matter. Everything is taken within the context of being a good student and person. We have the number system for grades of course, but the school also take account of the student's ethics and behavior and that can heighten their school performance. Being an apprentice means you are good enough to be chosen as an aide by a council member." Simon explained while he compose himself once more.

"This 'council members', who are they?" I've been meaning to ask that. He keeps mentioning them so obviously they must've played a part in all of this.

"Ah yes, the council- the acting jury of the school. It is an organization consisting of personalities that holds a high position within the school. Furthermore, they get to meet the headmaster often."

"What?! So there IS another way to meet the headmaster."

"Yes, but only for council members." He added. "Despite the headmaster's often disappearance, he's still the founder and owner of this school. As people with important position and roles within the school, they get to meet the headmaster through council meetings and assembly since the headmaster is part of the council."

All seven of us exchanged glances as if we're making sure that we all have the same thought in mind. Thankfully, we do.

"Saglit, sino ba kasi talaga 'tong mga council na'to?" Yael finally butted in.
