Hyron Dominus Rye Claude

It's finally time for my training—the time I dread the most. Why can't my lovely fox girlfriend just train me? She's qualified eno----No, she's over qualified. She has a high magic affinity, she's strong and fast, smart, and I love her. See? There's nobody more qualified than her. Unfortunately, that's doesn't seem to be the case for everyone else.

"Good morning, Earl Claude." I glared at the person they choose to train me instead of Selene. "You don't seem very pleased with seeing me."

This sorry excuse of a trainer, who is meant to be training me for my enhanced water magic, seems to be water-proof from head to toe. He's wearing a raincoat with rain boots and even carries an umbrella around.

"How are you the most qualified to do this?" I can't help but ask.

"I could answer your question but I don't want to answer follow-up questions."

"Nevermind," I answered. I don't want to know if he's not telling me everything anyway. He doesn't interest me. Only Selene does. "So what's Selene doing right now?"

"I believe Sel is still assisting with the investigation in the forest." Annoying prick.

I just let out a sigh and readied myself. "Let's just get this over with."

"Alright, I'll be your trainer. My name is Ivan Leonhart--2nd member of CODE:NYX and adviser of CODE:GAIA. I am human."

I scoffed. "I also believed Selene  was human but from what I've witnessed so far. Nobody is human in CODE:NYX." He appeared to be surprised by what I said for a moment before recovering to his usual slit-eye smile.

"That's not true. In fact, almost half of CODE:NYX is human," He said. "If you miss Sel so much, you can think of me as her. We're pretty similar."

"Don't make me barf."

"Fine, we are not that similar. But we're both half-human."

I paused. This man is half-human. Then what is the other half...?

"We should start the training soon." He starts walking back a little to put on a distance between the two of us. "And about your first question, I think the reason why I am qualified for this is because we are pretty similar." What is this freak talking about?

He stopped walking and turn around to face me when he's far enough. He took out a timer and place it on the bench. The he positioned the umbrella he's holding like a longsword. "I don't like getting wet though."

"Some water magic trainer you are," I rolled my eyes. But he only kept that smiling expression on his face.

"Let's try to assess you first so that we know what needs to be trained. Let's do it with a simple sparring match. Your goal is to land a hit on me before the timer stops. It doesn't matter where as long as it's a clear hit." he gestured towards the pool. "You can use whatever method you want. I believe the pool will be enough to cater for your water magic."

"However, please do forgive me if I seem a little rusty," He added. "I don't fight much. I'm not really a combative member. If anything, I'm more of a strategist."

"A non-combative hydrophobic clean freak, got it."

He didn't react.

"Ready, set...start!"
